Hey, with a little (as in a lot) of help from 411 member Laser2150, I got a Dustbowl map up and working from some Japanese dude on the interwebs. But without further adieu here is a little demo(man):*

Was the FPS that bad =\ Sorry. It looked good to me. I mean it wasnt that bad. Alright I will be nice here is what you do. *You have to own TF2*

First you need a program called GCFScape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/files/files/gcfscape170.exe)

Then when that is installed you need to go to your Steam\steamapps and find a file named "team fortress 2 content.gcf." Open that up with GCFScape, after you open it in GCFScape navigate to the "tf" folder and right click on it. Select extract. Extract it to Steam\steamapps\common\left4deaddemo\left4dead\

Now you will do the same thing with the materials:

Then when that is installed you need to go to your Steam\steamapps and find a file named "team fortress 2 materials.gcf." Open that up with GCFScape, after you open it in GCFScape navigate to the "tf" folder and right click on it. Select extract. Extract it to Steam\steamapps\common\left4deaddemo\left4dead\.

After that follow this link:
l4d_dustbowl03 (http://natto.studio-web.net/l4d_dustbowl03.rar)
And download the map. Place that in your Steam\steamapps\common\left4deaddemo\left4dead\map s folder

After this you go into the game and bring up the developers console (~). Type "map l4d_dustbowl03"

BAM. There you go!

Sigh...I mean this version of dustbowl. The darker lighting, all that...I assume someone did all that for this L4D version of it, but dustbowl_03 did exist before? I didn't think it was that complicated of a question, just curious. This isn't the original dustbowl, it's bigger and has more paths and all that.

I've got 300 hours in TF2, but I don't play customs often, so I haven't seen dustbowl_03 before.

I followed all of the steps and used GCFScape, multiple versions of this map, deleted all of my L4D files and redownloaded them and it still does not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

what I'm wondering is how the japanese dude got the map to work in the first place. With custom maps everyone I know has problems getting the zombies and the director to work right.
