Is it possible to import maps from completely different games onto Left 4 Dead? The link above shows a map called Stairway used on GunZ Online. I think it'd be pretty fun along with other maps from GunZ to play.

I highly doubt it but is it possible?

No. First it uses a completely different map type. Source games use .BSP but we could remake the map in Hammer to play. But i doubt the layout of the maps would work very well since gunz is a deathmatching typed game and L4D is well... you know.

Unless you mapped it in the SDK, then no.

woh woh woh, hold up, It CAN be done.
If you could somehow extract the geometry from guns online and save it in 3ds max and then go through the process of importing a model, you could probably use the whole level model and not have any brushes in the map at all.

However, that is just stupid to try and do, especially if the map is large since it would have to draw the whole object at the one same time and it wouldn't have any occlusion points and all of that stuff which helps to make the game run faster/smoother.

So...as these other guys said, you'll just have to do it using brushes within the hammer editor.

Otreum...why would you even say all that, then discount the entire thing by saying it's stupid and best to remake the maps? It's an insensical style of posting.

It's like my friend who annoyingly begs me for something, and then after awhile when I cave, said friend is just like "Nevermind, I don't want it."

Well done mate, that's great stuff, and good on you for not trying to be funny (and failing). I had a look at this gunz game after I made my first post in this thread and I remember reading an article about it a while ago in a magazine, it looks rather interesting and I may even give it a go. However i'm not too sure about the levels being used in left 4 dead...

It's a bit hypocritical of you to say my post was useless, when yours didn't contribute in any way shape or form.
Anyway, I wasn't trying to make a flame here, but really mate, grow up, I was just being helpful.

I didn't say it was useless. I said it was insensical. Two different things. Because of this, technically I wasn't being a hyprocrite since my post made enough sense for you to understand my critique.

So...Why tell me to "grow up"? Is it the only way for you to make an attack on me by claiming I'm immature? People online are jerks. You should be glad I criticized you in an intelligent manner, even if there was some sarcasm...

Also, I wouldn't say it's helpful to say something's possible, then call it stupid to do so. Who's that helping? The people who can't do it, or the supposedly stupid people who do?

Your turn.

I am not having a "TURN", I have no need to defend myself, i've said what i've said, and I stick by it. Now get back on topic.
