anyone want to help me create custom maps for left 4 dead i have not much skill in creating maps and would love to learn how to create custom maps for left 4 dead, if anyone has any info on how to create maps for left 4 dead and what programs i need to use! please help me out!

Then don't start with Left4Dead. Making a proper Left4Dead map will take months. It's not a good game to begin with. Try starting with something like CS:S.
At least wait until the L4D SDK is out.

2 very good points. I'd start out by learning how to create basic geometry. Start with fy_ maps, move onto de_ maps and learn pathways and such by doing a cs_ map.
Use the links provided by Ajax, some of the best Hammer tutorials out there.
