Anyone know how to force local hosting? My game always picks a server in america and I just want to host a game to play with my friends (in australia). The dedicated servers in america are really laggy for us(of course)...

it defaults to 250, which is pretty terrible. Change it to 150 at least, and you should be good. I dont know how many australian servers are up yet, though :\

It is when people start giving advice only relevant to the PC version :\ kekeke
to OP: I don't believe there is a way to force local hosting-- the game searches for a dedicated server, BUT in my experience, I have noticed that when you create a lobby, you will usually get a pretty good host/server nearby. Hope this helps

OK, thanks. Hopefully Valve will patch in a host option or put up some more Australian dedicated servers.

If it makes you feel any better, you're not the only Australian having poor latency online :\

There is a way to force host on the xbox but its unpredictable. It either gives you host or freezes your game making you have to reset the xbox. Anyway to do it you just have to keep searching and then canceling with a second or two between clicks. If you try to do it to fast and it will freeze too slow and the host connection wont come up. This can take a while to do, the longest its taken me is 5 minutes so good luck. Also you can tell you have the host connection when a countdown begins in the top left bit of the screen.
