View Full Version : VS play EXPLOIT!!

Okay, I've searched the forums and have yet to see it mentioned so I'll start a new one.
Basically some douche bags we were playing used this and I find it to be very un-sportsmen like, and I hope it gets fix soon. On the last part of the No Mercy stage. On the roof while waiting for the helicoptor, it is split into sections. 1 horde, then Tank spawns, 2 hord, 2nd tank, then the helicoptor arrives. Well apparently you HAVE to kill the tank to move on to the next part.
SO, this mean that they can use up the first tank. If your survivers are still around when the 2nd tank comes all they do is run and hide the tank every member of the team when they become the second tank runs and hids him because if he never dies the helicopter never comes. And all the while the other Infected are spawned over and over and over and over again untill they kill you.
So as you can tell this REALLY needs to be fixed. Best way I can see it being fixed is adding a timer to the roof that will spawn the helicopter. At least for the VS mode. Because it was very annoying being murdered because we couldn't find the tank that was hiding.
[[edit]] Oh and if winning is really THAT important to you that you have to stoop to this type of behavior, seriously go play halo or Gears of war 2 we don't need you on this game.

I believe tanks RAGE and die when they aren't attacking any survivors after a set amount of time. So how would this be possible?

I'm pretty sure when the rage meter runs out another player becomes the tank.

Like making a thread about you being mad over that you didnt win ?
My hypocrite senses are tingeling.
Anyway, this doesn't sound that trustworthy, as the tanks pretty much dies when they Rage.

I don't see any exploit here...
The boomer one is really an exploit, but it's fun (for the boomer of course)

If all players on the infected side do the tank hiding tactic, then they will keep getting turns being the tank, each player hiding when they are the tank. ;)

Even for the second tank ?
Meaning the player being the tank will hide so the other infected have all their time to finish the survivors...
I start to see...
Edit: Sorry didn't see it was the xbox 360 forum so you can't do the boomer exploit.

I thought the RAGE meter was there solely to prevent this sort of behaviour. Strange.

Yeah well they are right, I mean it happens indeed that once the rage meter is down, the tank doesn't vanish, another player is choosen. (But I believe you must not attack them not even once)
But I thought, that's what I heard, that the computer would control the tank in the end. This might be a solution again'st this exploit.
Indeed you need to be a bit weird to not want to play the Tank to own the all.

You sure? Last time I checked the AI took over when the rage went down to prevent shenanigins like this

When it runs down, it switches to another player, if that runs down then the tank stops where he is and is computer controlled and will only start attacking when the survivors trigger him. Happened in blood harvest when a tank spawned behind the fire alarm door. He couldn't break it down so it switched it to me, who was also stuck. Then the tank went to computer controlled right behind the door so as soon as the door was opened, there was a tank waiting for them controlled by the computer.

Well I'm not 100% sure how they did it. I do know that the tank switches players. because there was tank music and it was time for the second tank yet no tank showed up, and there were hunters boomers and smokers constantly respawning.
We weren't sure what was going on so we left our strong hold to search out the tank and we could not find it as while we were searching we were constantly being attacked by the respawned infected bosses.
Like making a thread about you being mad over that you didnt win ?

I'm not mad that I lost. I'm just say that this should be fixed cause what ever they did made it IMPOSSIBLE for us to win. It also gave them unlimited time to deal with us. The fact that they were raping us in all the other rounds has nothing to do with this. We held up in our strong hold possitions on the roof for over 30 mins waiting for the helicopter just to have it never show up.
And the tank doesn't just die when its rage runs out. It switches. Now if it only switches once I'm not sure. Cause maybe it does only switch onces and then goes to the computer to control it. which would mean they found a gliched spot to put the tank in where the computer could not get it out to come after us. Easy fix for this would be to respawn the tank in a spot different from where it was when the rage ran out. *shrug*
Damn thing should just die if it runs through 2 players. Or all the players. Though I think two is enough. If a Tank isn't already wailing on the survivors by the time the rage meter ticks down twice, they deserve to loose their Tank.

Doesn't the AI take over after the rage meter goes out? Since when the hell does another human player get it..?

I'm not sure. I know that once i had it but spawned to far away to make it to the survivors in time and it jumped to my other teammate. Now, I do not know if it does so more than once. Like people have said it might only switch once and then go to computer. If it does go to AI controlled then i'm pretty sure they found a gliched area where the tank being controlled by the AI could not get out and come for us.
I agree with Deek. If they can't start attacking you after it goes through 2 players they don't really deserve it.

I've always read that it will become AI controlled after the meter runs out. That has never actually happened to me though, but I'm quite sure it goes to the AI..
Hm. That's interesting though.

Well, I am pretty sure that it switches at the very least once. I read in the instruction manual and it only says " you loose control of it." so maybe it goes through every player before it goes to AI? either way after the rage runs out on 2 players it should just die instead of go to AI control

I've always had it switch at least once to another player before reverting to AI. I think your team gets two cracks at it, and then it's lost to AI. In most cases, having the Tank go AI and idle is the same as having it outright die, if it's too far away to be triggered, you lose the opportunity. But in the case of a Finale, where killing the Tank allows the Finale to progress ...? You cannot choose where to spawn in Finales. It's different for a reason. I think they should also tweak the Finale mechanic to kill the Tank after two wasted rage meters, as opposed to the AI taking over, just to avoid this kind of nonsense.

There is also a glitch where the tank doesn't actually spawn. This happened to me today at Bludharvest Finale.

this is absolutely true.
the last three times i've played versus on no mercy, i've experienced this. that happened to me three times. the tank never shows up. we even walked around the entire roof looking for the tank and it was no where to be found.
the tank must be in a area where it gets stuck and cant move, and put of reach/sight of the survivors.
after the third time this happened, i havent played versus since.
shit like this just make the game not fun to pla because theres always some ass-hat who trys to cheat and fuck things up.

The rage meter actually switches the tank to a new player, so they could pull this off for a while.

Happened to me on No Mercy finale. My team lasted a LONG while, too.

hell yeah that sucked, we had to go an hero off the building just to end the round because those nubs couldn't kill us, very anticlimatic. after 4 chapters of intense versus play only to have a twenty minute lame ass hide and seek game really takes the proverbial duece on the whole experience :(

If they ass-hat at you, go camp under the ramp. That way they'll be forced to come after you. See who can last longer.

And anyway, they already fixed it... I think.... or is that only in campaign mode?

In No Mercy there is an area for the tank where it can get in. But not out.

its sounds like a glitch....
ive run into it twice...
once i was even able to go infected and look for myself
basically sometime the tank just doesnt spawn for whatever reason....
i dont know what causes it and ive seen youtube vid of it happening...
so....they probably werent cheating...maybe if you saw the screen shaking like a tank was close by then yeah...but if it was just tank music in endless loop it was probably some kind of bug thing. one theory is stupid spectate exploit...too many special infected to spawn tank (i.e. more than 4)
cause the tank spawns, then the player gets control...if too many infected tank nvr spawned...
ive seen in happen in the sewers once aswell so its not just a rooftop glitch
edit: btw this is on pc, not sure if its diff on 360...

i was playing versus a few days ago and one of my team members said that the game told him he was going to be the tank. but he just respawned as normal and the tank never showed up. there was no way to tell the survivors so we just killed them.
Meh. It's not as 1337 as the unlimited infected thing.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you are the tank and you do not want your rage meter to deplete while hiding, then do the following.
Hide somewhere and righ-trigger to throw concrete at a survivor(s). As long as the AI detects that you are attacking the herd, then your rage meter will fill up again.

It the rage meter runs out on the first player, a second player takes over. If that second player's rage meter runs out, the tank becomes an NPC.
So if the tank is hiding, hide, and he'll come for you eventually as an NPC.

The tank goes to one person. When the rage meter runs out, it switches to the next. When it runs out again, it switches to the third, then the fourth after that. After everyone's run out of rage, it becomes AI controlled. This is my understanding.

The AI doesn't always hunt down survivors in vs. We had our tank guy drop from the match in No Mercy 3. The tank just stood in the sewers and didn't pursue the survivors as the AI.
I think the AI tank only chases down the survivors if they're close enough. And I don't think the safe room in the No Mercy finale is close enough (or Blood Harvest, for that matter, had this happen on both in versus).

I thought you had two tries with two people as the tank then he is a comp. least thats what happened to me.

I was pretty sure that any damage taken by the tank was kept when they lost control of it and another player was given the tank. Im sure I got a beaten up tank before. Either that or I was lagging. IDK for sure...O_o

The newest patch that just hit PC should come to 360. When it does, you'll never encounter someone exploiting like this again, as in the new patch, tanks can only recharge their rage meter if they hit a survivor.
