We Don't need one, plus there are idiots out there that somehow can play left 4 dead 24/7 and not have to work or do anything, that would always be at the top of the charts, and there would be alot of better players that don't get the chance to play that often that actually belong at the top of he leaderboards....it would be kinda fun to watch though.

i wannt see community avg kill/d ratio. shit like that. You can know your own, but there is no total ranking system where it shows the top people. but you can check everyones stats if you goto thier page.

agree, i love statistics. don't really care about leaderboards, but it's cool to see a breakdown of what i've been doing. record keeping is nice too, like most zombies killed with a pipebomb, etc..

I have no problem with statistics gathering and presentation, but I've never been a fan of leaderboards. Knowing that person X is zomg awesome doesn't mean much to me.

A Leaderboard would just be spammed by people who cheat to get to the top...it's a pointless piece of shit FYI.

Demerits could have been trouble, but just having a counter that tracks how many times you've saved someone, how many of your health packs you give away, etc. wouldn't necessarily be bad.

yeah I would like to see that too, not just when the campaign is completed but after you reach each safe zone it shows those stats.

Doesn't the game already track all that stuff? It just doesn't compile and store it all. It would be nice to have a record of all the stats and past game stats. Maybe tier 2 and 3 achievements also.

And about the Leaderboards.

Why not make those statistics so, that you can have a direct link to their metadata or something and no doubt someone would make a website, where you can put that steam L4D metadata link and that will check your scores and rank you among others, who have done that. That way there would be unofficial leaderboards, where people who wishes so, could compare their e-peens and the rest could just have their stats to themselves.

Statistics would definetly be cool to have. Kind of like TF2 does with the longest life, most backstabs, blah blah....

I think a leaderboard is a bad idea if its done like TF2 does, because people just boost in games to get to the top. So, the leaderboard is meaningless. Unless they came up with some good stats so that you cant boost to get them, but rather come from straight up game play and no stats where its all about time played (i.e. # of zombies killed....).

Leaderboards for games like this are pointless. They are just taking peoples statistics and implementing a way to interpret them into a ranking system. Everyone has their opinions on how the statistics should be interpreted and ranked and no one is ever right or wrong. The thing is, people take it as godliness and we don't need more assholes who think they are gods in this game or any game.

It gets pretty complex what I had to say about leaderboards and rankings (even the l4d server rankings is a joke and completely inaccurate) so I won't get into it. In the end, leaderboards/rankings just blow and don't work as people intended.
