permanent name change

I dont want to use my steam friends name in game so I tried to put "setinfo name XYZ" to autoexec.cfg but it doesnt work.
Every time i run the game, my name is the same as in steam friends :(

Any suggestion? (no key binds please)

Doesn't work indeed. Names follow Steam Community name ever since Orange Box, nothing you can do about it. The trick you used only works in Garry's Mod afaik.

"setinfo name XXX" works to change your nickname, but I want it to be changed when I start the game...

Put it into your config.cfg, then? And put the config.cfg as read-only

Just do shift+tab, then settings, change your nickname, close overlay.

I'm pretty sure you can't change your Steam ID, but all people ever really see is your Nick anyways...
