big big console problem!

ive got this really annoying problem, u se i cant open up my console at all in some of my games, such as left 4 dead and css, couse i dont have a specific "~" button.
can anyone of you guys help me with this?
i cant beleave that i cant even open up the console...

I had the same problem but i solved it.
you need to edit the shortcut.
add
-console
in the target field.

then I changed the toggleconsole key to something else.

Go into your autoexec.cfg and type in &quot;bind F10 toggleconsole&quot;

mine said that you press the button under esc just ignore that one

Open &quot;C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<username>\left 4 dead\left4dead\cfg\config.cfg&quot; and edit the line;

bind &quot;`&quot; &quot;toggleconsole&quot;

(line 27 I think) and replace &quot;`&quot; with a key of your choice.
