I play Single Player alot but every now and then I go over to my friends place and we play on live but there's something up with the guns. In the game videos I saw its true for the computer: -It Takes Longer To Reload Your Weapon When You Empty The Magizine Entirely- but not on the Xbox. The only 2 weapons that take a longer time to reload is the Shotguns. When I listen to the bots reload they take longer beacuse I can hear the sound effects. Is that a bug or glitch or something? Cuz I dont get a reload extension for the sniper,pistol, or automatics.
-It Takes Longer To Reload Your Weapon When You Empty The Magizine Entirely-
Nope. They removed that "feature" because gameplay > realism. They didn't bother changing the sound effects to reflect this, however.
Shotguns are different, for some reason.

I think that the shotguns take longer is because when you only shoot once you only have to add one more bullet (I'm sure it doesn't have a clip) and if you use all 8 (or 10) you have to add all 8 (or 10).

And that actually ends up like gameplay < realism. Which is good.

He's right though, you can shoot while reloading but you only need to cock it if the shotgun was empty before reloading which is why i only ever use 7 shells

All I said was how the reloading takes longer when you use more shots. He had to disagree with me even though it was completely true.

Some guns you have to pull the slide back after using a whole magazine.
Like in L4D the auto shot gun has a reload with no slide if you have 1 bullet or more over. When you finally empty the gun, you have to pull the slide back only because the whole clip was used thus adding the safety.

It's different for shotguns because shotguns work like pistols in a way.
When you shoot every shell out of your shotgun, there's nothing to pull the next shell back up unless you pull the hammer-like thing on the back of the shotgun (auto-shotgun), and with pump action.... you pump it lol.
Kinda like when you pull the slide back on the chamber of a pistol before you fire, like you've seen in movies sometimes.

gameplay > realism
both wrong.
gameplay != realism
realism is a style of gameplay.
realism<----------l4d----------->extremism
all styles of gameplay are equal on that scale. Valve games have always sat DIRECTLY in the center. You see how CSS lets you run pretty fast but still manages to have a realistic aiming system. However, neither are pushed too far.
realism = extremism
both are styles of gameplay so gameplay cannot equate with realism since realism is a subcategory of it.
ALL STYLES ARE EQUAL, ALL THAT MATTERS IS QUALITY.

Meh the shotguns are all right but listen to this. I started to think that the fuckin Micro Uzi is beeter for taking a tank down. I was Playing Dead air on Advanced. Louis and Francis Had Uzi's and Zoey and I had Pump Shotties. When the tank got into the apartment room (the one near the crane) louis and Francis UNLOADED on that bitch . I chased me down to the long hallway under us and i was thinking ( yup ill prolly get incaped), i shoot the fucker once and he falls over dead. My Point: the uzies have less power but is like a portable minigun.

I don't know how it works out damage total wise but I choose guns based on the level. Some of them have pretty long distances before an assured ammo recharge so in that case I take a shotgun because I go through it much more slowly (Blood Harvest 3 is a good example). If I know I'll get ammo before too long I take the uzi so I can fire indiscriminantly (like No Mercy 2 always has ammo by that one train car).

And for anyone that's wondering why it takes longer to reload:
When reloading an empty firearm you need to release the existing magazine as normal and fit in a new one. After that you'll either have to release the action forward to chamber the first round or slide the action/bolt back all the way and release/push bolt forward to chamber it. If you eject a magazine that still has rounds in it there should be one in the chamber meaning you dont need to release the action/bolt/slide to chamber a fresh round as theres already one there. Hence the shorter reload time.
The same goes for shotguns as you'll need to pump the action to load a fresh shell into the chamber, which will free up space for another spare shell if you want to take time to load another one in.

I found the guns weaker on the xbox than on the PC like im aiming for the head but it takes a few more good bullets to put 1 zombie down

On this topic, why didn't they implement the longer reloading time when the magazine depletes into all the weapons? It takes longer for the shotgun, but not for any other gun, which, as elmo says, doesn't really make sense. I understand realism isn't a top priority in games, but I think they left this one out accidentally.
Has anyone noticed that certain times when you're doing a weird combination of actions (like grabbing a pistol while reloading your current pistol, or meleeing immediately after throwing a pipe bomb/ molotov) that a different reload animation will play? Like one time I grabbed a second pistol while reloading my first, and it continued my reloading animation, but the chambers were pulled back, and there was an extra motion that snapped them back into place. It was basically a different reloading animation that took into account the lack of bullet in the chamber.
Also, in the second example above, if you're holding an assault rifle, you'll start pulling the thing on the other side of the gun with your right hand?
And have you also noticed that a completely different reloading animation plays externally that DOES account for the lack of bullet in the chamber? Like when you see someone else reload, they go ahead and cock the chamber in addition to reloading? And during this time, they can shoot?
Is anyone else seeing the consistency here? And does anyone else think they should go ahead and implement this type of system into the game (reloading takes longer for ALL guns when the magazine is depleted)?

Yesterday my character actually did the full Uzi reload animation, just like it looked in the old L4D videos.
