World In Conflict Open Beta

This game is hella fun, I've been playing it all night and morning and I can't get enough. It's quite the system hog but it's still fun on lower settings I've heard. I really recommend this so here you go, if anyone does try it I guarantee it's one of the better RTS' coming out anytime soon. The retail release is sometime in september. I've been playing since closed beta and I just noticed the open beta up on fileplanet, so I though I'd share with you guys.

Note: The download for the beta is freaking huge, 1.66gigabyes... I was able to download at a little over 1.15gigabytes per second and it took me around 25-30 minutes?

ya ive been playing this since its release on july 11th, i try to keep up with the latest news in the industry.

E3 is looking awsome btw, i didnt like microsofts presentation very much though, although it was ok, i felt like they were taking all the credit from every game being released on the 360 and pc, i thought it was out of order. just because it runs on their operating system doesnt make it theirs. Nintendo's presentation was great, i recommend watching that, some good games were shown on Gamespots coverage also, you get a closer look at COD4 which is cool, its really lame that they only tested most of the games on the 360, it makes it seem everyone has forgotten about PC enthusiasts, which is annoying because the PC has a serious advantage, and its just not used to its full potential, their needs to be more developers like Cryteck.

CryTek you mean? I figured they tested most the games on consoles because all theyn eed is the console, and a controller, and a screen... I'm not sure I want to bring 500 $2000 computers to an event...

Btw... the game is great, me and my friends always take USSR side and pool resource for nukes, its hella fun... The graphics are just AMAZING, I took a couple screenshots of it, and there's self shadowing and an amazing amount of detail on each soldier..

I dont know where the folder is for screenies, so I justu se prntscreen and copy/paste. IN the beginning theres the same chopper as blackout in Transformers and a semi truck like Optimus lol i was like... oooh shit was gonna go down!

It's funny because the simplest tactics work in this game, and people dont realize choke points, I had a team of US guys just trying the whole time to get down thorugh the town in Hometown map, I was support just bringing it down on them, got so many points and assloads of heavy artillery... Then I nuked the town :) With both my teams infantry players on it... they got mad but game was over soo..

Too bad the game doesnt allow my SLi config, I had to play on high instead of very high with my other computer (8600GT) but it stil llooked amazing

It seems fun, but its hard for me to jump on a 8 vs 8 match and try to learn wath is going on... even with the tutorial.

I wish I could play bots or a game like 2 vs 2 with people who would let my learn and help me for my first game. i always get killed so fast... and the only reason we I didnt left is becose I saw a nuke on my first game... made me so happy :)

best looking nuke ever in any game.

If some guys here want to play and help me learn, that would be cool.

I was in the closed beta for this so I got my key for the open one right away. It is a very fun and amazing game. I just dropped a nuke today, great fun.

Its annoying cause sometimes when units are moving it seems like lag because they are moving, then stop, speed up and move, stop, then move.

What do you guys play as? I usually play Support or Infantry... Support for the awesome Artillery and stuff, and Infantry if used well is amazing. I had a couple squads of Riflemen, Rangers and a handful of Anti-Tank troops hidden in a forest. A bunch of tanks came by and I obliterated them, atleast 5 heavies came by and a couple of mediums and a lot of lights.

They never figured out I was in there the whole game lol, its a good thing they didn't napalm strike me or I woulda been toast. I got enough points that game to land me a nuke in the center of the town and absolutely obliterated them as well. One tree did catch fire for when a tank shot into the forest so I had to move my guys back, luckily it didn't catch.

The carpet bombing is also hella fun, there were so many enemeis going on a bridge just a while ago when I was playing, I used a scout and the minimap just showed a thick red line of enemies, drop a cluster bomb and poof, they're all gone.

The effects and detail in this game are amazing - I cant quite play on highest yet because SLi dont work like I mentioned, but its really awesome just sending troops into the forest to have a fire fight with other troops, it looks like an FPS but then you zoom out and its so awesome.

Yeah played in the closed beta as well as this, and its pretty fun. Its nice to have a RTS where you can just jump in, and the teamwork required can make some pretty sweet moments.

And the nuke... just awesome. Supreme commander has some awesome nukes, but these are just.. so.. spectacular. :)

I downloaded a while ago, but it seems that I just can't into that game... My units are dying like flies usually. Could somebody give a some usefull tips please? What kind of units should I start with?

The game looks really good, even on my older DirectX 9 GPU, btw. :)

ROFL... someone set off a nuke in a game a while ago in the middle of town, my guys were in the middle of the bridge and they were slow ass infantry... And the thing just kept getting close and closer I had a full cap of infantry like 3 riflement and 5 anti tank and I was screaming RUN!!!!... Poor souls, only half of them made it... cool nonetheless

The detail on this game is so nuts... I spent like 2 minutes staring at the pilot in my Blackhawk before the enemy sent an Air-to-Air strike... It actually swirved out the way of a missile but right into AA fire...

Also - If you zoom in REALLY close to infantry they have conversations... I put a squad on the roof of a diner and they started talking about weird stuff... I put them in the forest taking cover and they're like why the hell are we in here? Dont worry the people up top know what they're doing... I thought it was just a neat little feature lol.. They say more stuff, and since theres a lot its kind of hard to make out sometimes but I heard that.

World In Conflict is just Awesome. i Love it. i use to be Support or Air. they are so kickazz...im Really Good With Air. Support is harder tho,i know how to do and so but if i stand still like 35 Seconds i keep getting shot down by the damn Tactical Aid Thingys. With air i usually get first place ^^ i love it,cuz i can play on my LAPTOP with the highest Graphics and still got 50 - 60 FPS

Yeah sorry, meant megabytes... Anywho... Do you move your guys at all donkey? Because I RARELY get hit with tactical aids when im using artillery... I usually get killed by Air because I dont have AA when I use Heavy Artillery...

i just wrecked a team with air, my best round so far was at 1900 pts and 50 TA pts after using 150 on 2 nukes :D (no one gave me pts either) round still had about 3 minutes to go also - server crashed before it ended though and i didnt get a screenshot :(.

mainly because the other team had a player who was trying to use about 10 repair tnks to try and hold the bridge on farmland (sweet sweet heli fodder) and their Air guy/guys sucked :)


I dont do well with support either donkey, TA's or air always get me. :/

i think 6000 cash pts is a bit low, is it just a server setting for beta - does anyone know?

On 1v1 and 2v2 you basicly have every roll and can get anything but you have loads of cash pts or what ever.

I uninstalled the 163.11 beta drivers for Nvidia and WiC and now I cant install them again with out saying I dont have Windows Vista 32bit.. so damn stupid.

Another game was glitchin out but I found out it does that to get use to the new drivers and so on. Oh and did you know there are some vehicals you can put troops in and drive? I was goin around in a school bus lol.

Anywho, I had the best game ever lol, my team simutaneously let off 4 Nukes all around the map... I had a fifth nuke but I saved it till the end, seriously, all I heard was that weird noise you hear when one goes off and 4 mushroom cloud icons on the minimap so I changed my camera view to horizontal and took a screenshot with 4 mushroom clouds lol.... I have it as my desktop now. It was freakin amazing hahaah. Reminded me off the beginning of "Jericho" if anyone has seen or watched it.

The last nuke I let off in their spawn and I got almost all their heavy artillery guys lol.

Before that Daisy Cutter madness, im not sure what it does really because 3 things fall on parachutes, ones the actual explosion the other two dont do anything. But anyway its still fun, the other team USSR had an assload of infantry in the forest and one guy onm y team snuck into another ofrest with infantry and hes like "someone clear the forest" so I drop a daisy cutter and it knocked down BOTH lol... it was awesome.

And also another screenshot with a bunch of guys walking into a huge nuke crater... Im not sure if ur supposed to do that.

Actually only 2 things come out, unless it was USSR who had 3. One is the actual bomb, the other is the board it was on when it was pushed out of the aircraft.

They need a spectre in the game.

I just installed the beta test last night (w/ pre-order bonuses), and have played about 15 matches since. I like it a lot. VERY teamwork oriented. The team that uses the in game VOIP and coordinates will win every time. Look for Deek if you're interested in teamplay, I'm always sqwaking on my headset. I usually play Support/Armor, and will dabble with Infantry on occasion.

I love how, after a nuke, the whole area becomes radioactive. When you move your camera near the fallout, the screen turns gray and fuzzy and you hear a geiger counter crackling. Awesome touch.

EDIT: Oddly, I have the easiest time w/ Support. I love chasing down Helicopters with massed AA, launching cross map artillery barrages, repairing vehicles, etc. One good Support player on your team can really turn a game in your favor, I find. There's nothing worse than screaming for AA support when you play Armor, but the Support players are too busy building multiple heavy artillery batteries to heed the call ...

Easiest TA points ever, I did this on the Farm map and got enough for a nuke very quickly, besides that it looks awesome watching your guys spew out missiles.

Yeah, Riviera. Drop the $5 to pre-order at EB or whatever (you can always cancel). The extra map in the rotation is great (keep from getting bored), and it's a pretty wicked map. One big cluster-fuck from start to finish.

Nah, just the one pre-order map. But pre-ordering also gives you additional content in the pre-release demo, and early access to Massgate (to reserve your name and create you clan) prior to public release.

Cool thanks guys. I have a problem now though, when i login and go to the page to get it, it says invalid code instead of the normal thing im supposed to type in. I've already messed around with cookies/privacy settings and all that crap and cant get it to show the real thing.

It was really cool too cause right when I put all my markers down for them and one came down the radio guy said, &quot;May god have mercy on us all&quot;. So awesome! Gave me that cool feeling.
