The same xbox 360 that I have taken damn good care of, for over two years, got the three red rings (Yet again! Second time!). It still works at times and I don't feel like sending it in to get it fixed because the warranty is due. I'm selling it for like $125 to a friend who wouldn't mind sending it in to fix it up for the mullah, however much that amount is.
So my choices Ive been stumped on are:
1. I either save up the money to buy a brand new xbox for $200 + tax
2. use the money to beef up my computer and become a Pc gamer.
The downsides of both are;
I'm fed up with fucking 360.
but
the only Pc gamer friends I know aren't into FPS games and I'm not as skilled with mouse, as I am with the control stick.

Any other valid reasons/ways, I can handle this PM me or just post it here. The reasons why I want you all to help me is, because, I make stupid or hard decisions.

First of all, it's possible to just walk into a repair shop that deals with X360's (and knows what they're doing) and have the Red Rings fixed (PERMANENTLY! They honestly don't come back!) for some 50$

But if you already sold it, then I would recommend using that money to give your computer a small upgrade...Assuming that you've got at least a decent PC to start with.

Well... A hard choice indeed. I personally would suggest on going PC, but that would mean, that you'd have to find yourself a "clan" of somesort. A casual one, mind you... that way you'd be getting some fun gaming company on PC.

But then again, the XBOX with friends there is nice, too. I myself use PC, but I have XBOX lying around, too. I play NHL and such games on my box and the consoles are just so much better when friends are over, than the PC.

It's possible to fix the 360 yourself (I did it) for probably under $30.

Learn the PC. Then hack into Microsoft and force them to ship you 200 Xbox 360 Elites.
Oh yeah!
I remember when mine Red Ringed, I sent it into BestBuy (NOT MICROSOFT), and they shipped me a 450$ Gift Card. 100$ over what I bought it for. So instead of getting the original Xbox 360, I got the Elite basically for the price of a regular Xbox 360.

Yeah seriously, I would just get it fixed or send it back. It's not worth spending $200 for a new one.

At worst, if you are that bad with a mouse: grab a XBOX360 PC controller and play with it on PC... *rolleyes*

Played with someone doing that the other day. Nearly vote kicked him for his uncoordinated idiocy.

Definitely 2. use the money to beef up my computer and become a Pc gamer.

I refuse to get into a console/pc argument, but imho pc is the way to go.

a. I started as a console gamer but got annoyed by the lack of control in fps games. (I'm muuuuch better with a mouse now)
b. You can continuously upgrade the pc.
c. You can use 360 controller on pc so mouse issues don't matter.
d. Most 360 games worth their salt end up on console
e. future updates to pc games vs. paying for updates through xbox.
f. mods/configs, 3rd party maps, live updates through steam..

Do yourself (and your pc) a favor.. you'll thank yourself later. :)

I dont know dude, the xbox 360 is unreliable, and you have to pay for your online play, but, theres just somthing that keeps on drawing me back. But, the second I get the red rings, fuck this, I'm PC exclusive from now on. It kinda depends, what are your system specs? Processor, video card, what else? If you have decent hardware, then you should upgrade and play PC only.

My friend had the RROD and sent it in to MS. Then a few weeks later that Mercenaries 2 game I got for him and a nice deep circular scratch in it. Gee MS you sure fixed it!

Moral of the Story: Dont let microshit fix your problems.

Dude, I was a 360 gamer for 2 years before it broke and I sold it. I used the money to get a new PC, bought CSS and was a complete newb at it for a year.
After a while, though, you get really used to the WASD/Mouse layout, and it is just like fluid motion for you.

When I sit down at a PC in my school newspaper class, my left hand rests on WASD, and my right hand goes to the mouse (which I spin in small circles, as if trying to decide who to snipe.) :P
Everyone else just stares at me because they think I don't know how to hold my hands on a keyboard. Lol.

Back on topic: Yeah, I'm gonna be biased here, but go with the PC. If worst comes to worse, you pay 30 bucks for a 360 controller that you can use for PC. Big whup.
However, I would definately give the WASD/mouse layout a chance before you abandon ship and buy that controller.

Also, microsoft = a fucking piece of dog shit fuck balls goddammit they should all die.
I might be a diehard PC gamer, but I will vouch that Xaos is right. They have fucked us all over first with PCs, and now with 360s.

So far, I have a HP Pavilion Media center Pc. NVIDIA GeFprce 7300. 2048mb of memory and 500GB hardrive. Duel Processor to.
