Now this is a bit of a shocker to me. I know it's old news but I've just found out today while trying to find some info on TV gaming over the chrimbo holiday's and to my shock and horror I find it's no more :(.
Last year around the week before Christmas we here in the U.K got to see Birmingham Salvo & London Mint fight it out and pick players to represent us in the U.S for the finale against quite a few different countries.
Well, looks like we'll be missing out this year. It was a nice hours break in gaming for me to watch that :( Oh well looks like it's L4F all night long then this holiday.

first off i'm sad to see it go, although tbh i never knew it existed (from the u.s.). from what i read in the comments below that article they seemed to have it all wrong. they were saying that they'd have one team (halo players) and another (forza players) play each other in a game of pong or something instead of two teams that excell in the same game going head to head. that sounds extremely stupid, if i want to watch two half-assed teams go at it i can do that online at any time.

what makes professional gaming great is watching people that get paid to master a certain game go at it. to witness a player that plays "x" game 60 hours a week go on a sniper spree or whatever maneuver an average gamer couldn't dream of pulling off is what keeps people watching. same goes for any professional sport, pros make a certain activity their life and focus on excelling in their chosen activity. that's why we appreciate and support these leagues.

that said, i wish that they would have stuck it out and changed their methods instead of throwing in the towel. they had a stake in an industry that has only just begun. some smart entrepreneur will fill the void and suffer through the slow times only to find that when competetive gaming really starts to take off there will be little competition and huge profits.

Well last Christmas saw teams playing their own chosen games, the likes of CS:S (being the main event) and FIFA. I don't know what it's like in the States TV wise but it's slowly coming into play here with channels such as Pulse which gives you weekly run downs on tournament matches and actual tournaments themselves being play quite often. I just think it's such a shame to start something and not see it through.
