wouldn't it be a lot better if the director could be modified to change lighting in the maps depending on whats going on? im certain that would scare the crap out of most of us and yes i did use search

Hmmm. Guess that would be cool in some places. But why would the director need to do it? I mean, it really wouldn't do anything to slow you down if you're doing good, except maybe make it impossible if there's no light. If they had this, they might as well make you able to see other players flashlights.

Although what your saying is a good concept it has nothing to do with the AI Director.

Note the AI part, which means he doesn't control the environment.

nearly every system us a form of AI, including weather effects. or lighting effects. I think this is a great idea, just a little out of reach as far as how much comps can handle hell the development team would handle. But still great idea.

It'd be great if it could adjust the weather too.

see what i was thinking was that instead of having the exact same lighting if could possibly randomize the lighting in certain parts to make the game feel different each time through

edit: and sorry if that wouldn't be the directors job because i see some people didin't agree

I think it could be a great idea if it was done well... I'd hate to have the bad luck where everywhere is pitch black. I actually prefer the idea that caboos mentioned above with variable weather. Rain might roll in that would make molotovs less effective, or a thunderstorm with lightning flashes lighting up the scene, and a lot of environmental noise. Maybe even snow/sleet/ice and all the hassles of walking around in it.

I saw in a trailer or gameplay vid that the lights in the trains on no mercy were flickering, on & off
It looked really cool, too bad they got rid of it

He might mean flickering lights, Dead Space syndrome

what i meant is to change the lighting to make the game feel more diffrent each time like picture going through the hospital with flickering lights one time and the next there is no light. it would definitely scare me and also i never played dead space so cant be that...

Sounds cool, but only when they've managed to do it so you can see your teamates lights, or it might become a maze

yeah i know what you mean. didn't they remove it (seeing someone else's lights) cause if i remember correctly it used to be in but removed it so its less graphic intensive

That's reserved for horror that features ghosts and various otherworldly things.

DO IT!

Lights not so much. Dynamic weather would be awesome though. If the survivors are doing well, toss in some fog, if they're buggering up, a lightning storm to help illuminate the enemies.

Of course, that'd be useless indoors, and it'd have to basically be full level inclusive (Wouldn't want to walk into a safe room or any building with a clear sky, and walk out into a thunderstorm. Overcast the whole scenario, and throw in rain prior to any map where it's going to storm, and maybe a light mist near the end if they're going to be fogged up on the next)

Lol.. Just thinking about throwing a heavy fog into Blood Harvest or the town level of Death Toll makes me grin XD
