Doesn't it say "A Smoker grabbed you!" or something? at least, if I remember correctly, there was a bunch of different messages depending on what happened to you. "A hunter pounced you!" and stuff.

I'm assuming you can "feel" the tongue latching on, via. a screen shake and the sound of it latching on. (or being knocked/dragged a short distance instantly, like at the end of the PCG video)


If the team isn't being heavily assaulted at the time, it shouldn't be too hard to survive a smoker just from a semi-alert teams help. In the PCG video the aura that (I think) is usually only through walls came up and one of the in-game characters shouted smoker once it was seen. I'd have to check to verify, but I also remember a tongue icon by the players portrait at the bottom.

Neither do you, apparently. You don't shoot at the tongue, you shoot at the assailant, id est, the smoker himself.

Shooting the tounge probably just makes them let go, but dosen't damage the smoker itself.
