I was trying download an .avi player last night, when it finished and installed it was just another virus ridden piece of shit, so I remove it... Scan the crap out of my computer and when I thought it was safe I went to sleep, leaving another more scans while I dozed off...

This morning I got on with strange files and shit on my computer, and someone must've turned it off while I was sleeping, anyway I remove the files, turn on the sound and I keep hearing these two constant, but distinct beeps... So logically I assume the virus fucked up my computer...

So here I am, spent the last hour trying to find it right, got 3 scans going, one scan I've done twice for spyware, and the other scan is still scanning my Program Files after this hour, oddly enough theres over 200 000 files just from C:/ whatever to Program files... Anywho back on topic...

The beeping gets really fucking annoying, so I check out what it is on the Control Panel under sound, so I start checking the automated sounds to see if it was one of those... Wen't down the list and it was the same sound as "Device Connect," and "Device Disconnect," so I quickly check all my deviced... Can't figure out what the hell it is because they're all fine...

AND THEN... I see my damn palm pilot... sitting right beside my screen with a big pop-up on it with a red circled X saying "Cannot connect to XXXX (name of my computer," Blah, so I close the box and it automatically retries and connects almost instantly and the sound is gone... and now I sit here in the quiet, nothing but birds chirping and lawn mowers mowing...

That's my adventure for today...

Computer viruses are a lot like STD's. You really shouldn't have had unprotected sex with that .avi player.

If you want a good avi player just use VLC. The only files I've ever had it not play are some wmv's and quicktime mov files. It's free and doesn't need 3rd party codecs.

Yeah, many people do.... I guess when people tell me I usually forget by the time I get a chance to download it. First time it was recommended to me was about a year ago lol
