We were playing infected and the survivors got to house without too much trouble. They got through the first 2 failures of tanks without too much pain as well. What really got me though was immediately after the 2nd tank went down. Our boomer got an awesome vomit with 3 out of 4 covered. I got a decent pull strait away from APC pickup right after, giving us precious seconds before they make it to APC. They free my victim, I get away, then a hunter pounces em delaying them further.

They're still covered, and there's still no horde. They get to APC as the doors opening, I pull them once again delaying their entry until just when you hear the hordes of infected cry out and the panic attack begins. Not one infected came before they door was closing.

If the boomer vomit worked as it should we absolutely had them out long enough to get a tank on top of them. Anyway, I just thought that was stupid and had to rant.

Actually it's a glitch sometimes. I've found that at some points the boomer vomit will simply NOT cause an extra horde. In addition every vomit thereafter won't cause a panic event...I hope they fix it.

there are server-side settings that control the size of the horde, the frequency of horde resets, and the max amount of zombies that can be in play at once (which is the source of the problem).

The problem is that the default settings are causing it, it's not that a server changed anything.

It is KNOWN that if you have just triggered a horde, a boomer vomit won't actually attract another horde at teh same time ,and vice versa. This is because there's a limit to the number of common infected that can be in play at once.

Raise this limit, and you'll have your two hordes. Alas, this value is cheat protected so the server has to run sv_cheats 1 to mess with these settings. This is good and bad. Good for folks who want to be sure they're playing with the default settings. Bad for people who want more of a challenge or want the Boomer or Special Event to cause a proper horde every time it's triggered.
