Watched it last night - fucking AWESOME film!
Keep it spoiler free if you post here, just want to recommend this to anyone who hasn`t seen it.
A terrifying glimpse of the future, with a fantastic storyline. Go see it.

I think I heard of this somewhere and saw a trailer for it and thought it looked pretty cool but more of a character development movie.

It is by far the best film of 2007. The action scenes are truly mint, I loved the style it was filmed in. Saw transformers at the cinema last night, brilliant film, but despite how much of a fan I am of it, children of men was still better..

Transformers was decent, I got a pirated version. Not fantastic, but it was entertaining. The chick was hot.
I'd tap that.

Children of men was an awesome movie. with a great cast, direction, story and action. However I would recomend this movie based upon the Cinamatrography and angles alone

but more of a character development movie.
Ergo, it sucks...?
It's a great movie, almost as good as the book.

Refugee camp scene could have been maybe 20 minutes longer with more actions... Simply put that was the best part of the movie for me... Damn was it intense..

keep an eye out while you watch. The final action scene is all done in ONE shot, ONE take.
It's amazing and brilliant. Spoiler free: From when they leave the old ladies house to when theo meets the black dude with the m16
Best movie of 2006. One of the best movies of the decade.
Instant classic.

I went in to this movie not really knowing what it was, and loved it.
There are quite a few scenes that are done in one take that are really badass.

I saw the trailers and thought it looked kinda interesting but (much like 300 and 28 weeks later,) never got around to seeing it. I'm really missing out on the movie scene this year.

Those who comment on the one take shots may be surprised to know that there was indeed some computer related trickery involved to make it look seemless.
An interesting read on wikipedia - BEWARE SPOILERS THOUGH!!

By the way, if you`re in the UK you can get the DVD off of play.com for £6.99
It was £5.99 the night before it was shown on SKY movies, but the next day when I went to order a copy it had gone up a quid!!
If you`ve not seen this film then buy it on DVD, its cheap now, but still worth full price if you cant get a cheap copy outside the UK

did it come to america in theaters?
Lol, yes.
I'm in America, and I saw it in my local theater.
ONE shot, ONE take.
Sorry dude but a shot and a take are two different things. A take is an attempt at a shot. They were one shot but i'm sure not just one take.

it's funny this comes up cause when I was away at film camp all the like cinematography teachers said this movie was amazing (angles, shots, editing, etc.)
so I rented it today and literally just finished it....and watched the extras. It was amazing how throughout the whole movie pretty much they only used master shots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_shot) (new term I learned in camp :) )...
nothing from that like 10 min. contiuous car scene where a "chick" gets shot was CGI, it was all scripted, and it just took a hell of a lot of time to tell all the actors/stuntpeople their marks.
even besides that scne and the other huge action one, if you watch it again and pay attention, there's probably no more than 10 or 15 actual "Cuts" in the movie.....just a lot of long master shots

That movie was epic, love that car door maneuver. Also, another movie I have been wanting to see that I just finished about an hour ago was Sweeny Todd. That was some of the most grusome shit I have ever seen.

Unfortunately this is incorrect. The CGI, while the scene did not bathe in it, was actually quite plentiful (the breaking windshield, for instance). The two one take scenes (van ride and the tank scene) were not actually done in one long continuous take, but very carefully stitched multiple takes. It really shows how incredible CGI is when used responsibly, as I cannot tell where they cut.
From the movie's Wikipedia:
However, the commonly reported statement that the action scenes are continuous shots[63] is not entirely true. Visual effects supervisor Frazer Churchill has indicated that the battle sequence was filmed in five separate takes over two locations and then seamlessly stitched together to give the illusion of a single take[citation needed]. Similarly, the car sequence was filmed in six separate takes over three locations and then stitched together, along with various other CG elements including a CG roof.[64] In an interview with Variety, Cuarón acknowledged this nature of the "single-shot" action sequences: "Maybe I'm spilling a big secret, but sometimes it's more than what it looks like. The important thing is how you blend everything and how you keep the perception of a fluid choreography through all of these different pieces."[10]
---
This totally does not decrease my love for the film, as I firmly believe its one of the best films to come out in recent memory. The first time I saw the movie, my jaw dropped at the intro. Totally did not see that coming (if you saw it you know what I mean).

car sequence was filmed in six separate takes over three locations
I don't get it though, I just watched the making of it on the DVD and they had this huge car rig with One camera that hung down from the roof of the car that rotated around the inside...they showed them go through the whole thing in one.
I guess they could just stitch things closeley together, but I think there was only one location for that scene, cause they show'd the whole thing, but from an outside camera (for the making)
idk, I think I loved the though of the one continuous shot thing that you saying anything otherwise crushes my hear :/
the breaking windshield, for instance).
yeah I forgot, Iknow the windshield and blood, etc. and fire was CG, but I just meant like, it was all real and they wernt just sitting in a car in a studio making it bump around, ya know. was all on location.
