Possibly, but its more likely that they'll just update it periodically until the next version of the half life engine comes out.

Why would there be a second one? If anything just keep updating the game. Its not really a story SP game like HL2, so I highly doubt L4D2.

Think of it this way, there is no CS:S 2 or DoD:S 2 ...so why a L4D 2? If anything, it'll just be updated for (distant) future engines, if there ever are any.

Yeah, it's the same thing really. There will be a new engine, and they might make a new L4D for the new engine if it's popular enough. They won't call it L4D2, that's for sure.
