Okay well I'm visiting an old friend and him and his roommate are hardwired to teh router and can connect to any server, as for me I'm on teh wireless. I've forward my ports but still getting connection failed after 10 tries error. I've searched on the forums but nothing really solid. Is anyone on wireless still having issues? Any other fixs besides everythign I've already tried? I've forward the ports, updated drivers, everything else works but L4D. Any Help would be great! =) Thanks.

I've switched to hardwire now. Still same issue, I removed all my ports, reset the router, tried it with the ports again. And still connection failed after 10 tries. And nothing is being blocked by the firewall. Any clue?

Check your firewalls, all of them. Make sure nothing is blocking L4D, steam, anything associated to the game.

You do not need to forward any ports to play L4D on the internet - port forwarding is for incoming connections not outgoing ones.

It sounds like your firewall has not detected L4D or steam properly.

I would never play any game on a wireless connection but that is just me - a wired connection is much more consistent and reliable (assuming that your wireless is encrypted?)

I play through a wireless router and everything's fine here.

Everything is set right. I even tried turning off my firewall and still gives me connection failed after 10 tries.

What firewall are you using?

just the lame vista firewall.

EDIT: I even added a port for steam, 27015. I can't get any servers to show up on the browser.

I dont have Vista, but I've heard that Vista has a very hard time not being a bitch, and consistently tries to block things?

Right click on the steam file or L4d file or something [360 player, but i play the ocasional css] and go to properties, it might say unblock in the bottom corner on one of the tabs.
