This was recently downloaded onto my computer because I was worried when it "scanned" my computer on the internet in a pop up and said I had viruses.
In fear, I reacted by downloading thinking it would help. Then I got all these pop-ups in the bottom right of my screen saying "Virus alert" and stuff like that.
When it kept these pop-ups coming despite me already having a RELIABLE anti-virus (McAfee), it kept saying a virus was infecting my computer. I began to think it was a scam, but it is and something a whole lot worse. It's also a virus and I can't find out how to get rid of it.
I've scanned the folder using 2 anti-virus programs and tried deleting it, and went to all programs and it wasn't there so I couldn't uninstall it.
Can somebody help me out before I have to resort to paying Geek Squad to look at a way to get rid of it?

first i was like
and then i lol'd
you are joking right?
Delete it from where you downloaded it.
Or just ctrl+f for it in your c: drive.
Anyways, the Geek Squad will probably get rid of it quickly and without error.

How exactly can I do that? I'm not exactly what you'd call "Tech-savvy".....
And Funky, you're no help but at least for once you didn't post delete System 32 -.-
Anyways, the Geek Squad will probably get rid of it quickly and without error.
Yea but I was hoping here I could find a way to get rid of it... Not the smartest choice but someone is bound to know.
you are joking right?
I wish :(
Also the program is currently not doing anything after another scan but it is still not uninstalled and I think it will come back.

I actually don't know at all because I never get viruses.
and most of the 'self burrowing' ones usually can't activate and all I see is a file with an error and I delete it.
End it's process in the task manager.
Go to the processes tab, and end the process Antivirus2010.exe (or some name like that).

omg i though nobody actually downloaded that crap...
what has the virus done to your comp? first step is finding out what virus it is so you can know what to do to get rid of it. deleting it with mcafee probably wont work cause there are some "super" viruses out there that can hide from anti-virus software and move themselves and change file name every scan.
google anti-virus 2010(or whatever the pop-up said) and see if anybody has a solution...

My old computer broke three times because of viruses.

oh...well thats a lil easier, you're going to still have to find out what the virus is and search for a way to uninstall it (widows uninstall sux so much) something alot like trying to get rid of norton anti-virus off....it may be difficult

you can system restore before you got it or reformat or find it on your drive and delete it

So far it hasn't done anything, but I want to get rid of it now. Better safe then sorry.
As for downloading it, it was 3 in the morning and I was worried so....
And Enzo I just did that, I'll see if it comes back and get back to you guys. That's also what appeared when I googled it.

I remember once I forgot to scan for a few weeks. Then I remembered and when the scan was done I had about a thousand cookies, 3 trojan horse viruses, and a few spywares. I used Ad Aware to get rid of the trojans and the cookies, and I used avg and geek squad to get rid of the spyware. My advice, go to geek squad. You might have to pay, but if that virus makes its way to your hard drive, then all of your personal info is exposed

Oldest trick in the book, man.
Never download shit from pop ups.
I'd say keep scanning or do a system restore.

Heh.
I'd follow the advice here for getting rid of it, and in the future, Never download shit from pop ups.
And for that matter get something to stop the pop-ups/scripts.
I highly recommend NoScript, if you have Firefox.

Shrub that song made me lol the first time I saw it.
As for getting rid of it, I'm having my dad take a look at it when he can and if he can't solve it, it's off to Geek Squad.

I knew porn was the culprit.
I lol'd hard.
But believe it or not... The pop-up came from gametrailers...
And no the girl I webcammed with is someone I actually know, and no I don't know her from the porn industry.
I finally got rid of it using system restore though. Thanks for the help guys. I'll try not to be retarded in the future.
Malware. That happened to me once. It basicaly tricks your Anti-Virus into thinking the computer has a virus and tells you that the only way to get rid of it is to purchase a certain Anti-Virus programme. It's a scam obviously.
I can't remember the exact details of how I got rid of it, I didn't need to go as drastic as doing a system restore though. Search Google for a Malware removal guide. Don't get any Malware removal programs because chances are they'll either be viruses themselves or the scam trying to sell their "product".

Ok. Get SpyWare Doctor. Macfee is the MOST UNreliable virus scan. It never finds anything. As a little test I loaded up a shitty computer with as many viruses as possible and then I scanned it with 4 different scanners from another computer. Avast, Spyware Doctor, Macfee and Norton. Macfee found a few. Avast just came up with a ton of cookies and Norton never finished. Spyware Doctor detected the most by far though not all.

Geek Squad will tell you to buy a new computer. From what I hear, to join Geek Squad you do not even need a test to prove if you know about computers...

Very true, all you need to know is how to work a computer and basic trouble shooting, since in the end they make you buy a new computer anyways... I almost took the job, but I could not handle retards like this

A good rule of thumb to remove spyware/virus is to turn off system restore, boot in safe mode, scan and remove what it finds, start normally, turn system restore points back on.
Even if you have scanned before and it says it is clean, I still recommend this method.
