View Full Version : Problem with textures after "Left 4 Fake" configuration

FPSBanana's tutorial on setting up Hammer for L4D is a freakin' godsend. However, has anybody else noticed that when you browse for textures, you can also see textures that are obviously from half life? As in, textures for combine advisors, rebel humans, and Alyx among others. For these it's quite obvous that Left 4 Dead is not going to find these textures itself, but it sucks when I find a decent brick texture and then it turns up in L4D as black and purple checkers.

I'm wondering, did I do something wrong, or is everybody seeing this stuff? Furthermore, is there any way to remove these textures? They're not in my Left4Fake/materials directory. I have literally NO idea where Hammer is finding these materials, unless it's actually looking in the .gcfs for Half Life or something....

While we're here, has anybody else also been having errors during compilation saying "Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_l4d_urban01_hdr to build the default cubemap!"? I think this is why my cubemaps are showing up as purple and black. (I decided to use No Mercy's skybox for my testing purposes.) oh, one more thing--when I type "buildcubemaps" it builds them, and when I go back into the map they work, but after I close L4D and reopen the map they're back to black and purple like I never built them.
