You installed it yet? I`m still using 178.24 as 180.84 gave me minor graphic glitches on other games.
Any problems or noticable improvements with 181.20?

40 on what? if you're saying l4d, my 9600 at least get 70 on average

Well i have a 8600 gts and i had a solid 60 fps with the 178.24 and the 181.20 seemed to jump from between 50-60 so it seemed like a slight downgrade. i shall test more.

8800GT on L4D
Edit: I also meant 50 fps :/
I will fix that...

i definitely don't think this helped my fps, but hurt it a bit, unless theres some settings i should adjust for performance on a nvideo 8600 gts

I read on nvidia's forums that the stutter glitch is still present if you are using xp32bit with multicore processing. It's just a 18x.xx bug so far that they have not bothered to fix.

I get stutter SOMETIMES cause i went back to xp (waiting for better processor) So i am on a single core with rare stutter. But i mainly wanted to point the new driver out and how it helped my game at least :/
^_^ I hope it helped some of you

Well i have xp32bit and dualcore and it didn't help me, so that's prolly why lol.

The limit is 299 -.-
Also what are your specs? Cause the video card is not the only thing that brings up the FPS...

What's your point? You have way higher specs than him/her, of course your game runs faster.

I wish I got a solid 60 :<

Even with...

Windows XP
Q6600 @ 3.4GHz
eVGA 'Superclocked' 8800GTX

I drop to 40 - 50 FPS in heavy action. I think it even gets down to 30 sometimes. Usually 80 - 100+ in non firefights. Running at 1680*1050 with max video settings apart from only 2xMSAA.

Here is a tip :P
set AA to 16X CSAA
Yes this does sound crazy, but when you do that it is lower quality edging, still looks good. And on effects set it to medium, it looks exactly the same, i have yet to find out the difference :P
And yeah i run it at 1680X1050 too :D

I'm just gonna wait for the Ambient Occlusion drivers to be non-leaked :p

Thanks for the tip, but from my brief testing ti seems that 2xMSAA performs better. I noticed that 16xCSAA actually looked a bit better, for me, but performed about 5FPS or so slower, which makes sense. Keeping it at 2xMSAA for the performance - I never really notice dodgy edging with it on unless I'm looking for it anyway.

EDIT: Moved it up to 4xMSAA... No visible aliasing, still better performance than 16xCSAA. Rox0r.

Ambient Occlusion drivers

Mmm nice, just read up on these. Gotta take another performance hit to have it on though :<~ And I know I won't be able to live without it.

Sorry to go off-topic a bit, but was there ever a solution for the XP32 users with dual core?

I'm now having issues with Mirror's Edge because I'm out of date on my driver ><. So I'm kind of stuck choosing between Mirror's Edge (181.20) and L4D (178.24).....obviously I choose L4D (duh) but ME is a one-time play-through and L4D is an all-the-time thing so I may just install the new drivers, play ME all the way through, and then switch back =P

Any word on possible fixes/workarounds/etc... would be greatly appreciated. Thanks~

I'm going to try and see if my brand-new GTX260 solves the problem. D:
It does not.

The new driver is causing issues for me in Left 4 Dead. I installed it today and played for a few minutes, and I found that every once in a while, my visuals would freeze and my sound would loop, just for a split-second. Also, video stuttering in Single Player.

I seem to be getting much better performance in AudioSurf and slightly better performance in TF2, so why is this happening in Left 4 Dead?

Edit: Disregard that, I suck cocks. It's solved by disabling multicore rendering. Unfortunately, multicore rendering was the only reason for my being able to play L4D at a playable framerate with such nearly-maxed graphics.

:\

I have Vista32Bit, Vista Business actually. Would it help for a 9800 gt if I buy the game? Well, I run TF2 with 120 fps so I think I might be ok without updating.

i guess i have to do some bs to manually clean the drivers paths b/c the control panel o nthe new drivers keeps freezing, ive used driver cleaner pro, driver sweeper, and have manually deleted reg keys myself and still freezes....i always have to deal with this problem when fixing pcs....plug and play more like plug and stay there forever.....
