i have noticed a lot of movies are being remade from the 1970s to the 1990s and i just wanna say what movie would u like to see be remade?

For me it would have to be Alien because when i first saw it, i was scared shitless.

just imagine how much better they can do with modern day tech to remake that movie

God, that would be horrible. It would be like some retarded action movie. I mean, the first alien was all horror. Aliens was a bit more action with all the marines involved, but they still pulled it off.

I think Alien still stands up with today's tech anyway.

I second platypus, alien was thee shit, and I mean it. I'd hate a remake.

Aliens' use of low-tech special effects was what made it so well done. Just like how Star Wars used to have a real Yoda puppet thing, now it's goddamn CG and Yoga can do the splits.

I hope that is gonna be awesome, the first is SUCH a classic, and for a planelover like me this has a lot of anticipation behind it.

You can't have modern day tech without action and explosions! Just look at The Day the Earth Stood Still.

The Original: Clever social commentary on the Cold War

Remake: Keanu Reeves comes down in a spaceship and shit blows up and people die.

Alien should NOT be remade, it's fantastically perfect how it is.

Cyanyde

In all seriousness, the only movie I can see benefiting from being remade is The Last Starfighter..

The original was okay, but it could be so awesome with today's effects and more explosions and action.

Other than that, every movie I considered still stands to this day.

As for the 3 horror movies I mentioned, they already have or will have remakes made of them.. that was the joke. :P
Also, the Halloween movie that is coming out is a remake of Halloween 2 which in turn is a sequel to the 2007 remake..

(aside: Friday the 13th 2009 looks like it could be pretty awesome)

I just want a good Ender's Game movie.

As far as remakes...I would say Arachnophobia. Since I am completely arachnophobic, I think CG could do a lot to make that scarier....

it would still HAVE to have John Goodman as the exterminator

Remakes are an attempt to cash in on something that was good yet completely and utterly ruining it.

I hate remakes.

The only decent remake IMO was Dawn of the Dead.

I think classics should stay that way. Cool high tech doesnt make or break a movie.

Look at John Carpenter's The Thing, that whole movie is puppets and it looks better than most movies today.

and the first two aliens are great, they shouldn't be touched.

Anyone see Its a Wonderful Life or Shawshank Redemption?

Those are two of my favorite movies and they are incredibly old. There is no way humanly possible to imporve them even with modern day technology. I agree with EClaris. Most classics should stay classic.

Naah, I find Aliens better than The Thing.

I enjoy a nice story so this is probably biased but the The Thing either didnt have a story or it focused so hard on being gory as shit the story was missed.

Maybe you didnt pay attention, i thought the story was clear and the characters (Chiles and MacReady at least) to be likeable.

Im not saying i didnt like Alien, on the contrary I loved it. And as girly as I am when it comes to gore (I will never watch a saw) I thought it was appropriate with the movie, dont know why, it just worked for me.

But they're both great and shouldnt ever be remade.

OHH I LOVE The Thing, one of my favorite movies (although it is also a remake of The Thing From Another World (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_from_Another_World), but they pulled it off).

And what do you men it didn't focus on the story? It's all about being isolated and not knowing who you can trust. It's slightly gory, but it's not unwarranted in the story. I mean, unlike Saw where its gore first and story after, most old school horror movies did good at balancing gore (if there was any) and story and suspense.

But it is that epic.

Infest I thought maybe IAWL

I would never want to see a remake of that TBH. EVER. It was great just the way it was, the actors were perfect, and it looked great in black and white, and I loved the setting. A remake would never even come close to even half as good as the original.

I'm not saying it's a bad film, I enjoyed it, but didn't latch onto the story as well as I would have liked. Both films fantastic how they are, remaking them would kill their "reputation".

Oh you'd be suprised at Saw.. waaay over-hyped. The first 2, pathetic. The rest I've yet to see, easily one of the most over-hyped film ever though xD

Yes, the ending to the Carpenter version was awesome. Instead of a certain happy ending (Spoilers) we get them sitting in the ice with the fire from the station slowly burning out. It's just so haunting, great way to end the movie /spoilers.

Yeah, main stream horror is really failing in my opinion. I mean, i know gore is like the big thing that people like and draw in crowds now, but what happened to suspense or using drama or actual fear to scare the audience, not just gratuitous amounts of blood.

Heh. Compare 12 Monkeys with the original concept in Chris Marker's La Jeteé (http://www.criterion.com/films/329). 12 Monkeys is a pretty good film, but Marker's is one of the great classics -- and less than half an hour long, black and white, narrated, and only one motion scene in the entire thing (graphic novel fans will find it very familiar). One of the ancestors of the Terminator movies, among other things.

If you want to be scared absolutely stiff with no blood and gore, try M (http://www.criterion.com/films/558) by Fritz Lang (1931). Peter Lorre plays an obsessed pedophile murderer who ends up hunted by both the police and the underworld, who are pissed off by all the heat his murders are generating. Again, one of the great classics, and I hope they never dare re-make it.

From my experience I would not like to see Hollywood butcher anymore classic movies. They're so unoriginal these days they gotta take every great movie and remake it into a piece of shit so the morons of American society will go fork over their hard earned cash to see Scary Movie 15 and Saw 47. 98% of movies that come out today are pure garbage.

They are remaking it. Naomi Watts is supposed to be in it.

I think they should remake some of the old twilight zone episodes.

That might be interesting. Richard Kelly (of Donnie Darko fame) is doing a movie based on a twilight zone episode. In the movie, a young couple receive a box with a button, and if they press the button they get like a million dollars, but someone they dont know dies. I forgot the name of the twilight zone episode, but its the same thing.
