Number 8, and it's an 'Other Notable' on the first guy's list. Most of the games they list are pretty big name titles so it's cool to see L4D on there.

Awesome! I'm surprised it made it on at all with it being relatively below the radar.

Didn't see that coming, I took a look at it and the first page was just big titles so I didn't bother reading on.

Good to see some publicity though, I presume though if most people don't see it right away, they practically don't see it at all.

Just waiting to see a full article on L4D by some big sight like IGN or Gamespot.

Probably misread: But on page 3, the one linked it says the other 'notables' are slated for 2008, INCLUDING Spore... yet it's on someone elses Top 10 for 2007.

AoC looks decent, for a while I thought it looked like crap because of graphics... then I realized its an MMO. Sounds decent on paper but I wonder how it'll play out. I have no background with the Conan stuff so I don't really know if it's worth checking out for myself.

And bleh, Strangehold... why not just make an awesome Max Payne 3, unless he's dead... Never played MP2.

Stranglehold is way different and way more fast paced then Max Payne. Tequila is a fucking monkey and all Max Payne can do is jump sideways. Plus Max Payne doesn't have doves or the words "John Woo" in its title.

Whats Ironic is that John Woo films were the inspiration of the Max Payne series.

And you know this how? Must be from all that first hand experience playing the game. I don't even know who John Woo is, and could care less. Was there a point mentioning that? Look, its obvious they wanted to make a Hollywood-action-shooter here, and a lot of people are aquainted with the Max Payne series... Why not do that is all im saying. And any gameplay relevance to the doves?

Looks to me just a next-generation asian Payne. Next-gen allowing him to do rails, swing, and interact with more objects, easily and fluidly, but the general direction the game is going is clearly Max Payne-ish.

... bullets flying really fast... pacing will be virtually the same as long as that principal stays intact, and if it does that means they're both really fast-paced games neither is the faster, only way to make it faster is to add more enemies. From what I've seen the AI isn't that bright in Stranglehold.

Max Payne invented Bullet Time... Tequila can wander off into China town.

And you know this how?
The developers mentioned it in a few interviews...

Max Payne invented Bullet Time..
You may want to do some more research there. Bullet time existed long before its applications in the gaming industry (I'm not talking about The Matrix) and Max Payne wasn't even the first game to use it.

Yeah... I wasn't speaking literally there.

Yup, that's what happens when I don't read replies properly before replying. *facepalm*

Anyway, semi-back on topic:
AoC looks decent, for a while I thought it looked like crap because of graphics... then I realized its an MMO
I never looked into it much, but the graphics I saw are pretty good considering it's an MMO, I might look into it a bit more now I know it's not just an SP adventure game, as I first assumed.

Also, whys this in off-topic squerl? Shouldn't it be in main with it being L4D related?

Stranglehold is way different and way more fast paced then Max Payne.
Stranglehold's gameplay doesn't look much different from Max Payne in the demos I've seen, just more jumping on stuff.
I don't even know who John Woo is, and could care less.
Dude, John Woo movies are awesome. If your a younger person like me (22) you were prolly pretty young when all his best flicks came out, but if u like straight up action (no zombies or monsters) then you've gotta see "The Killer" and "Hard-Boiled", they're the best. "Better Tomorrow" and "Bullet in the Head" were sweet too. These movies are packed full of all that Max Payne slow-mo dodging. In fact, diving through the air whilst firing two pistols is often referred to as a 'Woo' or 'pulling a Woo'.
Max Payne invented Bullet Time...
As to who invented bullet-time... Isn't bullet time just a fancy new word for slow motion?!? Or is BT; motion totally frozen whilst the camera moves? Either way, MP or da Matrix may have invented the word 'bullet time' but Sergio Leone was using it decades ago.... and u probly don't know who that is either.

As for on topic... I think L4D may start out slow but will win over fans/get noticed, once lots of people actually play it/see it in action. Then there will be no stopping L4D mania.

yup i can see that happening too, it will take a while for it to get to css standards of the amount of servers and generally ppl playing it. But after a while i can see it owning css maybe even double the amount of servers:P

EDIT: i know im going to have a server:P

No kidding I love the Max Payne series. In MP2 I beat the clock on one of the survival modes.. the one outside in the courtyard/driveway (part of the last level). I figured out this trick where u can keep going back behind the black van come out kill guys then fall back then repeat. The time trial clock only went up to 1 hour and I kept going for 1.5... tho my compy was chugging horrible by that time due to how many weapons and dead bodies were on screen - I think that's why I died heh :P

SPOILER on MP2 ending!

He doesn't die and at the end of the credits they say that "Max Payne will be back to continue his adventure into the night." (something to that effect) Man I hope they make a MP3.

Depending on the difficulty you put the game on depends on whether or not the lovely Mona Sax dies at the end... If I remember right she doesn't die on the hardest difficulty (so best ending).

End Spoilers

Lol Stranglehold looks retarded. Do you have to dive to the ground like a dolphin every fight? It might be cool the first time but then it just gets annoying and looks stupid. Why does he even dive you can get shot in the face with a shotgun and keep going.

Ever see the Magic Parachute thats in the game? You activate the parachute then he flies way up in the air then comes back down.

Edit: I'm suprised that L4D made it on the top list with all those other games, nice

Yeah I noticed that... shame... atleast in Max Payne you could jump out windows and land in a truck.

It looks like Just Cause, where he jumps 50 feet in the air off the top of a car going 60 mph down a dirt path chased by jeeps that have .50 cal machine guns unloading into his back and it doesnt hurt him. ugh.

lol I just finished a game of CoH. I'm sure the expansion pack will be great but better than UT3 or Left 4 Dead? I don't think so.
