Its a Ruger Mini-14. Most are chambered in .223 but there are 7.62x39 and 6.8 SPC versions availible.

Great... Mini-14 :-(

The A-team couldn't hit crap with 'em (well, technically they weren't Mini-s4's). ;-D They used to have an accurizing barrel that you could add to it, but at that point, you'd have been better off with an AR-15, especially with magazine availability/quality. I'll just pretend it's an M1 or M14, a real combat rifle.

That concept art is the only time I remember seeing an MP5 in L4D. My guess is it was either replaced with the Uzi or was a second tier weapon that they decided to remove.

I'm leaning more towards it being replaced with the Uzi, because all the other weapons in that picture seem to be first tier. Unless they originally had more than one SMG planned for the first tier.
