What is the model of your router?
its not your xbox, its your connection.
you have to change the NAT on your router(not the xbox router) or something.
this has nothing to do with microsoft, who you need to be calling is the router provider and ask them how to change the NAT from "strict" to "open"

What I had to do with my 360 was assign it an IP, then open the ports required. Give it a try if you haven't yet.

Also the distance between your xbox and the router may reduce connection so make sure the arial on the router is aimed in the general direction of your 360 to give it that little extra.
apart from that call whoever supports your router for advice and/or take dog eat dogs advice above.

i had a problem where my interent wasnt supported by the wireless adapter, $100 gone to waste. So i had to get an ethernet cable that now stretches halfway across the house. I had pretty much the same problem, call your internet provider and if they cant help you call microsoft.

How was your internet not supported by the wireless adapter? You just go out and buy a wireless router that connects to your modem.

If you have another computer thats on, laptop, or whatever thats using the internet as well, that will eat up your connection. Your settings on the xbox might be set to minimum. Which means that if another device is using the internet than that thing uses the internet more than the xbox.

I'm not sure if you found your answer yet ... I had the same problem on our Belkin router. I had it setup to filter MAC addresses, preset IP's and 128 WEP encryption. I went through several different things - I added the MAC address on the Xbox wireless adapter ... even switched back to allow the router to automatically assign IP addresses.
In the end it wound up being the MAC address filtering that caused the problem. I needed to add the Xbox's MAC address (I already had the network adapter's MAC address) into the filtered list. Once I added that in I was able to reach Xbox Live ... prior to this I was only able to access the local network. Hopefully your problem will be the same ...

I had the same problem as you. (With the same router.) What I did was set the IP address of my xbox into the DMZ. This should be located on your network page. You might run into the same problem as me where no other computer can connect to the internet as long as you are in the DMZ, but it should clear it up for you.

where do you find these adresses?
Were you able to actually connect to the Internet/Xbox Live? ... were you able to connect to your Network? Also, is your router setup to filter connected devices based on their MAC address? If you can connect to your Network, but was unable to connect to the Internet/Xbox Live, and your filter MAC addresses this should help ...
The MAC address for the wireless adapter is listed on it's side (I believe there were a couple sets of numbers so the MAC address will be structured something like this: 00 1C BF 28 D6 76).
To get the Xbox's MAC address you just need go to the System Settings tab, then under Network Settings -> Configure Network -> Additional Settings - select the Advanced Settings Option (this has the Host Name and Alternate MAC address). On this screen you will see the Wire MAC Address for your Xbox ... once again in my case once I added this address to the approved filtered MAC list on my router the Xbox's Network Status was able to connect to the Network, Internet, and Xbox Live - where before it was failing the connection test, only connecting to the local Network.
I had already added the wireless adapter's MAC address, so I'm sure you will still need to add that into the approved MAC address.
If you are able to connect to Xbox Live or you're not filtering MAC addresses I'm not sure exactly what will help out. You can go back and verify the IP Settings and DNS Settings as well as any security encryption settings are inputted in correctly ... all of that information will be driven by your router.
I've owned three different Belkin routers and the Gateway and Primary DNS Server have been 192.168.2.1 (this can be changed, but is usually defaulted), the Subnet Mask is typically defaulted to 255.255.255.0 for most routers ... in my case the DNS Settings and IP Settings are set to Automatic - if it's a manually set IP address, just enter it in and make sure that no other device pulls that IP address (typically all devices will be setup with their own preset IP address if the network is setup to not use the DHCP IP address assigning feature).
Finally the encryption will come from the router ... I don't recall if the Xbox could use some of the newer encryption types (ie, WAP), but ours was setup using 128 bit, and I entered that information in when I first browsed for the wireless network from the Xbox. This may or may not be used ...
If you setup the router, login in to the Router Setup from your computer (usually 192.168.2.1 and enter your password and verify the settings) ... don't confuse the router's internet IP and DNS settings with the ones needed to connect to the router - the router will use different settings to connect to your service provider, and you will use different ones to connect to the router.
Oh, one other thing you can do is check what settings are being used on your computer. If you are connect to your router through a wireless connection the settings on your computer will be the same for your Xbox (other than the router assigned IP address and MAC address).
