As I posted in another thread, I think it makes better business-sense to not release L4D this holiday season, with super-hyped games like: Ep2/TF2/Halo 3/Mass Effect/Bioshock/Crysis/etc. coming out. With a launch window early 08 I think everybody will be getting tired of all those games and be looking for something new to play, in which case hopefully they look at L4D.

I do want to cry a little bit, but whatever it takes for them to make it how it should be is fine by me.

SC2 has been on the way for so long that no one even cares anymore. I don't care and I never cared, I always liked the Diablo series better, but knowing Blizzard if ever they release it, it'll be pay to play.

Back on topic, by the time Left4Dead gets released I'm not even going to care anymore. Sure it'll be brilliant and unputdownable and one of the greatest games that's ever been created and all that, but I will have read all of this information so many times that I'll be over the game and all it's special never-seen-before features.

Also, 6-8 months is a very long time when you consider that there is a good chance that not long after that the next Harry Potter movie will probably be released.

Actually a LOT of people care about SC2, you seem to be oblivious to the fact that since SC2 was announced at E3 I believe, there has been ASSLOADS of media, to cover every topic in this forum two fold... not to mention BlizzCon starts today...

Whens Half Blood Prince coming out? That and Deathly Hallows would make the best movies imo, if they don't screw em up.\

I know a lot of people care, but considering it is probably going to be another milestone game, I know a lot of people, gamer people, who really don't mind the wait. Then again, same goes for this I guess. (See above for example.)

The point of that whole little speil was basically that I think Blizzard try to get too much mileage out of their games, just like valve and turtle rock try to get too much mileage out of their advertising. At a certain point it begins to backfire. Personally, Half Life 2 Ep 2 is going to be a game that I will be buying like "Oh good it's finally out.", not like: "OMFG ITS COMING ITS COMING ITS HERE I LOVE HALF LIFE OH MY GOD LET ME HAVE IT LET ME HAVE IT NOW!" - A result of their poor marketing.

Well, from my point of view, "when it's done" can mean one or two years, so it's a change for better :) I've literally choked on emotion during many months... I would like to play the game before, but seeing that's not going to happen I will stay calm and happy until early 08.

Edit: By the way, if they would release like anything from L4D which is playable it would be a Beta. Demo's are usually Released after the game have been. It would be great if they had a small steam event. Like, you'd be able to download a modified version of the game and be able to play it over a weekend, then it wouldn't work anymore. Well, I'll try to explain myself.

The interviewer says that "Left 4 Dead is targeting a late 2007 release" because he knows as much as we do before starting the interview. Then, at the end of the interview, Faliszek states that it will be released some time after the holidays. Both sentences are not related. I think that if the game was to be released before, he would have said simply "after the summer" or something to that effect.. But don't take my word for it, I too hope to get it soon.

the interview wasn't published in real time, it wasn't uploaded as it was taking place. It will have been written and edited after the interview. It would be extremely stupid to publish a wrong release date because you used to think that was the case prior to the interview. Even if you print it on the page before the interview, it doesn't make sense.

Personally, I would be more worried about a studio that announces a release
date early in their development process and actually releases on that date.
Doing so implies their schedule and/or financial situation drove the
decision to ship the game, instead of the actual quality of the game itself.

We will release Left 4 Dead when it's done and is hopefully deserving of the
attention and praise gamers like you are giving it.

all in all its too bad. When I first heard of the game it was slated for Q1 of this year. Now that I know for sure it won't be until january there really is no point in returning to this site or to search for L4d media. At this time i feel certain i'll buy the game, but who knows what may change until then <shrug>. I already have a few other games i'd like to buy around that time period. So at this time i'd say my purchase is imminent, so long as other games aren't keeping me happy or something else gets me excited.

Its possible i feel this way because I've caught on to it before the 'majority' (whatever number of people that entails), but it is terribly anti-climatic.

It's great that they're taking more time to polish their game up, and I would hate for them to release an unfinished game and never complete it just because it has been released. At the same time I fear that although this is revolutionary, by the time it's released it is going to have DX10 games to compete with. Will it be able to match up?
