If you want to skip through the beginning stuff, just skip to 24 seconds.
I did something similar in the past, but I leaped and then missed ( I was in front of survivor ) and instantly pressed fire he attack kind of fast, but maybe what I said isn't an exploit.

that silly hunter and his hopping and stuff.

hum... I fail to see how this is an exploit, as it doesn't bring any advantage to someone using it...

Yeah I don't see any advantage in doing that at all. You can jump farther and higher with the pounce. It probably takes the same amount of time to charge the pounce as it does for you to find a wall and jump on it.

i don't think it is an exploit. play coop and watch the cpu hunter...... looks just like that when he is running away from you.

not sure if this is an exploit, but it has it's advantages over normal pounce. Let's say you are in a building, if you will prepare a punce you will give away your possition (hunter starts to give some seriusly disturbing sounds when crouching). With this technique you can yust run behind a survivor and perform an instant pounce.

How is this an exploit? Seems like a valid tactic to me.

Because it's not an intended game mechanic? You're not meant to be able to "pounce" off the ground without crouching...which is meant to give survivors time to see or hear you. Valve tries hard to balance the game, and I'd bet they'll patch this if it gets out of hand eventually.

...This ISN'T an exploit.

It's a mechanic that:

1. Is necessary for proper balance of the hunter.
2. Is used by the AI!
3. Makes the game more fun.

Its kinda funny how no one ever admits something is an exploit. Everytime something new is "found" in the game and called an exploit, everyone quickly calls it a new valid tactic.

How can everyone not agree with that? Simply amazing.

more like EXACTLY the opposite

yeah, just like the melee exploit that was recently patched. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people said, 'oh its a valid tactic, Valve wouldn't have put it in the game if it wasn't supposed to be there.'

Well, guess what (for all those who said it wasn't an exploit): I TOLD YOU SO!!! Jerks.

I don't fully understand exactly what is happening and what tactical advantages you would gain from doing this, just based on the video alone. I'll have to try it out myself to see. Chances are, if it dramatically changes the gameplay to the point that there is a very noticable and significant difference in the performance of those who use it vs those who dont, then it probably shouldn't be there (exploit).

As far as I can tell, you can get many more jumps/hops than what I've done in the video. You hardly lose any speed at all.

I'm guessing you can hop your way around the map indefinitely.

Whether this gives you an advantage or not, I'm not entirely sure. However, I don't think valve intended for this to be able to be done.

Part two is up.

This is an interesting tactic, but what I want is for valve to bring back the hunter's ability to do a pounceless jump. Back in the demo, if hunters clicked mouse1 while not crouching, they jumped but the jump was unable to do any damage. AI hunters still have this ability, and that's what people in this thread are talking about. The pounceless jump allows for a quick getaway, and considering the AI have it I think it's unfair for human players to not have it. Countless times I've tried to run away and accidentally pounced somebody standing nearby, where I do literally one point of damage and get killed.

Hmm, have you watched the other video on my account?

It's called 0 charge pounce.

yeah, that's more of an exploit than an intended game mechanic. Besides, it's more situational then the original 0 charge pounceless jump.

Hey, why not post a link to that to demonstrate your point better? If this really is an exploit, as you claim, others might want to see a real proof of concept. Even if that means you have to get a friend to stand still in a versus match in order to prove this theory.

Can they pounce on any one during that state?

No offense, but I fail to see how you jumping around like a loon has any advantage in the game, whatsoever.

No offense taken, was trying to think of ways that this might help you in-game as well, the only thing I could think of is that besides the initial wall jump, you are silent while you're doing your hopping. Moving fast and silent would be great for the small hallways of no mercy.

I'm working on the versus friend thing right now.

It's much easier to think that you're learning to get better than to think you're taking advantage of an exploit.

I honestly don't even see a practical use of it. If you want a silent pounce, just do the walljump close up. You just look like a fool hopping around like that.
