This means a more polished game, but it looks polished enough already, it doesn't take a year to make more maps, and it doesn't take more then a month to fix bugs, so wth, even so a year, it doesn't make sense, they've done everything so far, the only glitch I've seen is bullet tracers come out of the hands...

And to all those "moar tyme meens moar bettter!1" people, if that philosophy holds true then Duke Nukem Forever will be the best game ever. It may come out a few minutes before the rapture but it must rock because obviously more time means that they're working on it more. They wouldn't possibly push Left 4 Dead back because of Valve's Orange box or the holiday season or to gain more hype...right? You glass-half-fuller's need a big dose of cynicism before you go out into the real world.

I think they are holding it back simply to be able to release it at the same time as the XBOX360 version.
It`ll be finished long before Feb I reckon (PC version), but by releasing both formats at once they can then market both versions in one ad campaign.

I would have been happy with an end of October release to coincide with Halloween.
Oh well, its completely out of our control, so no use whining about it.
( although I am pissed off about it! )

Actually Rannos is one of the more articulate people on this forum, and has a good point. All these videos show ingame footage of a game that looks finished.
Yes theres only one map, but the actual game mechanics looks more or less finished with only minor changes in graphics and hud needed to make it look complete.
Oh and also the guns needs redoing. the shotgun should be alot more powerful, throwing infected back as they get hit at close range. And the pistol is very average and needs new animations and sounds.

TRS will have made concepts and designs for the other maps even if they haven't finished them, and completing them will not take 5 months. I think the post-newyears release is for largely commercial purposes.

for me, its all building towards the day it arrives, wether the game is a huge dissopiontment or not will be dicided that day. if i had the choice of haveing a bug filled version erly or the real deal in 08 i would choose to wait, although its almost a type of torture having to wait, its guna be that much sweeter on the day. and i woulndt spare myself the wait because im the type of person who likes things alot more once i have had a long time to think about how good it will be. . . like christmas when ya little. . it would be nothing without the wait. and i am very gutted about the long wait but i am glad we get the chance to kno about games really erly on, and think its a privalidge we get to see the games develop and improve. :D

I returned from the UK yesterday (great country, btw ^^) and there has just been happening so much since last week. I don't know what to think.

In my opinion the game won't profit from the delay as much as one would like to believe, since polishing and bugfix doesn't take that long, as stated before. I'm also not interested in the 360 version, so I'm kind of dissappointed...

On the other hand, TRS is clearly trying to make up for the delay with alot of new media. That's highly appriaciated, and hopefully there will be more throughout the year. :/

Anyways, I cant wait! :)

They're much more likely to be using some bug tracker software, which stores the bugs in a database and backs it up periodically onto a separate HD. Plus I've never seen anything from TRS so sloppily written. Me thinks the L4D myspace is just someone spreading misinformation, whether intentionally or not.

i'm very disappointed in from the news. i was in ohio all last week and just got back today. when i heard it was going to be playable again i was expecting to get back and see a release date only to be disappointed. but it could be just me because two of the games i really couldnt wait to come out have been delayed till next year (this and GTA).

it got my hopes up big time wen they said that they planned on releasing it for PC sometime in the summer only to find out that they will be releasing it 4-5 months after summer, and thats just a guess. it could probably be put off for another 7 months for all we know since they still didnt give a clear release date. but the upside to it for me is i wont have to spend that much money for two games i want so close to other good games like mass effect or halo 3. i just hope they put a demo for the game at least. like one map to play on. they already have around 20+ maps planned for release, putting one map out for a demo wouldn't hurt. its not like we all will be spoiled since they showed pretty much the whole level of the hospital map to the public and press.

If it will be released early 08 then the better reviews it will get as well as bigger publicity.

This wait will cause slight increase in graphics, balance, bug removal, and they said they will release one or two new campaign maps around three months after the game is released.

This turns out in making L4D an even better game, the bad thing is we have to wait more...
