For me, the mic has become an intregal part of my online gaming, whether it's Vent or a built in VOIP setup, as in WiC or BF2142. L4D will be no exception.

It's so easy to mute those mic fags, people always get mad at me saying type voice_enable 0 in console, that is the actually console command that works... the ones that don't that everyone says they do are
quit sound - notice the quit, it doesn't matter what comes after, that quit will exit your game
exit sound - same here
or they'll say press f10

I like to get on CS occasionally and ban myself from shit servers by getting real close to my mic and going "AABABABBABABBABABABABABABABABABAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

that combined with low mic quality gets an instaban!

I'm pretty sure there will be a way to mute individuals instead of everyone. That's if there isn't already. (via. the players menu when paused perhaps)

As for needing a mic, that's not necessarily true. There are so many built in automatic voices that it should be possible to get a decent level of coop with just those and keeping an eye on everyone.

I usually use my numpad when I can't use my mic, Its easy to get three (or more) sets of 12 text/radio binds on there in any source game. Plus, I'm "fast as fuck" on a keyboard if I absolutely need to type something in game. :D

i cant see this game being fun with CS dicks who talk shit, it will have to be with ppl i kno and like talking to, we are all geting hyped about this game and talking about how were guna play it already, we plan to take truns in the leader seat, only 4 ppl take turns of who dicideds the direction who watches our back and so forth, it is pretty anoying jumping into a game and being told by someone who might be alot shiter than u to do stupid things, but it will be cool having a largh with ya mates. . . its where this game is really guna differ from the likes of CS

Though a lot of players will be using ventrilo, teamspeak or even Skype I'm guessing.
This could be considered as cheating and it will be kinda impossible to control...

When people mic spam and are annoying about it mics piss me off. But I, unlike some people, have learned that listening to mics is optional. If it is a problem in l4d I'll just turn off the voice receive sound.
