I love innovation too much.
Then there's the fact SF's style is awesome in the classic sense, the same way Quake Live is sooo awesome with matchmaking (it actually works in this game)

I dunno I tried playing HD remix an was'nt too good at it. Hard to play on controller IMO. An not sure I can afford to buy the game and an Arcade stick right now. Probably just going to buy RE5 instead.

Well, to really see the changes from sf2 and sf3 to sf4 you have to really get into the tactics of the game and how people nit pick on what you can do in a certain frame with certain characters and combos and everything like that. It's quite skill based and tactical actually.
I think I'm going to pick up Street Fighter 4. The last Street Fighter game I owned was the original SNES release so I've missed a lot in between. I thought the Street Fighter series had died with the 3d games like Tekken and DOA coming out, but I'm actually a little burnt out on those games because people only ever use a fraction of characters movesets. They memorize the strongest combos and rinse and repeat. Also there are some new characters in Street Fighter 4 that really look interesting. I was always a Ryu player, but Akuma looks like a pretty neat character.
Heh, akuma is the fucking best, and he is definatly not new, he was a secret char in sf2 who then appeared in sfalpha, street fighter 3, and a bunch of other games. Akuma is considered the badass of street fighter.
The best new guy to me is gouken. He is ryu and ken and dan's sensei but akuma killed him before street fighter 2. So I have no idea how he is alive.
And also Gen is from the alpha series and he is just gonna kick your ass with is super speedy yet damaging moves.
And finally the last cool char is Dan, he is the loser bet always lovable char. Beating your enemy with him is considered to be awesome because dan isn't that good. But Dan was originally a joke based off of ryo from art of fighting from SNK.

Went to go pick up my copy after Gamestop said it would be available, but when I got there, they said I could not purchase it until tomorrow 2/18/09.

I couldn't pick it up because Monday was a provincial holiday.
Either way, they said they weren't going to have any arcade sticks in stock for up to a month which blows ass. using a 360 controller for Street Fighter just doesn't seem right to me.
My local Walmart hasn't received them yet and both of the EB's near me have sold out the PS3 versions, but have tons of 360 versions available. EB says they may not get more in until next week. Sold out in a few hours. Will check in again at Walmart tomorrow.

I only hate it cus of the glitches. In every single SF game, there is that one never fix'd glitch where it makes me lose the match.
Hmm, I don't have a 360 or PS3, but I just found out it will be released for pc in a few months. I might think about getting it if it doesn't flop or anything. I loved street fighter for supertendo and had it for gameboy advance also.

Man, I am rocking with everybody but Guile, who happens to be one of my favorites. I just can't pull off his special moves with the 360 joystick.. :(

I went to my friend's house during lunch today and tried his PS3 Fightstick.
Of course, I whupped him up 10-3, even without being able to Jump forward.
(His upper right diagonal wasn't registering for some reason...) This is a common problem with a few SE Fightsticks, I am hearing.
The sticks are of great quality when they work correctly. With a mod or repair, they work great for the price, Considering the TE goes for $150 and HRAP's are just as difficult to find, especially for the 360.
As soon as they are available again, I am getting one for my 360.
This thread led me (through the Wikipedia Effect) to a Wikipedia article which stated that Puzzle Fighter HD has a planned PC port. Therefore, I thank this thread for giving me a purpose in life.

Yeah.
So far it's really good although I've only been using Ryu and just learning how to do the new maneuvers. There are a lot of complexities in the engine with all the new skills but the control is just spot on. I find I can even play with the analogue stick which I could never do with fighting games in the past.

Ok first thing, it's ok to to use ryu, but once you get good with ryu and ken try playing as diffrent characters, try unlocking gouken or something. But please, for the love of god

Christ sake, I once counted random matches where I went up gainst 12 Kens in a row, with the majority of them spamming hadokens.
Now this wouldn't be a problem since I can whoop the shit out of people who do that, but I really like playing as Zangief. No way in hell do I stand a chance when I can't even get close to them, and when I do they just low kick over and over as soon as I stand up.
Now I play as Akuma since I can hadoken back all the ones they send, and shoot out the EX version so one gets stopped and one hits them.

Probably not, but it just depends on what you like. I like the technicality of street fighter games. I cant stand all those other 3d fighters.
If your talking about the graphics, then probably, the whole style is really good and the graphics are amazing. It's like tf2 style but more anime.
Love the new visual style. If Street Fighter had stayed the same as it was I probably wouldn't have bothered buying it.

if this is balanced shouldn't they have a hadouken counter? so you could use a specific character and they'd have a hadouken-countering move of some kind? Any character could have it though.
El Fuerte is pretty fast...

You can do a quick focus counter. But when it comes to spamming you really have to be good to counter it.

I got Street Fighter IV, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
It's 10x more fun than any steam game I have.
The counters to Hadouken are many: Crimson Viper has an elbow drop normal attack that simply jumps over hadoukens perfectly, so I can just walk right up to spammers no problem, El Fuerte can jump over them when he rushes as well, and Akuma can simply jump right at you from all the way across the screen and facepalm you really hard.
Everything is perfect in this!

I dont know which console to get it for. I thought about getting it on the 360 but I already have Super Street Fighter 2 HD REmix on the Ps3 and I wouldnt have to buy an arcade stick for each console
Super Street Fighter IV announced.
Here's the confirmed change list so far:
* The previously leaked characters are all said to be in the game. Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Adon, Cody and Guy. The new characters are rumored to be:
o Hakan - An Arabic grappler obsessed with oil.
o Juri - Evil Asian girl fighter working for Seth.
* All characters will have two Ultras. They will both be available at one time, not selectable like with Third Strike's Super Arts. The commands to execute your Ultras do not overlap.
o It sounds like the characters from Third Strike are set up with their prior Super Arts. They had three in that game, so one will be their Super and the other two their Ultras.
o Gen has four Ultras because of his two fighting styles. One of these is said to be an Air Ultra.
o All characters still have one Super, except Sakura who apparently has a Shinkuu Hadoken (Super Fireball) as well.
* Some characters will have Air Ultras.
* The Bonus Stages will be returning.
* This will be an exclusive arcade release at least for a few months.
* An official announcement is said to be coming at the Tokyo Game Show and on the Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog soon.
* Expect the return of the many familiar Supers, and a few new ones like Metsu Shoryuken. You'll see the return of Chun-Li's Kikosho (Super Fireball), Gouken's Denjin, Sagat's Tiger Cannon (Super Fireball).
* Ibuki has a run command.
* Guile has his Sonic Hurricane move from Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
* Dudley has his Chain combos from Third Strike, plus one additional Chain combo.
* Cody is the only character with an Alpha Counter and he still has his knife. He supposedly needs his knife to perform one of his Ultras.
* Rufus can cancel-break the last hit of his Spectacle Romance, or the launch kick of Space Opera Symphony.
* Guy has his Chain combos.
* Makoto has her Tanden Renki Super from Third Strike.
* Zangief is said to have a 720 degree motion Air Ultra called the Siberian Blizzard.
* The game takes place one year after Street Fighter 4.
* Dudley was searching for his car in Third Strike, in this game he's searching for a rose.
* T. Hawk's storyline involves him protecting Juni or Juli.
* Dhalsim's new Ultra is called the Yoga Shangri'la.
* There's a new gameplay system called Tadan Saving, the phrase implies a multi-hitting or multiple-level Focus Attack.
* The console characters are all said to be added to the upcoming arcade release, with the possible exceptions of Seth and Gouken.

Well I changed to arcade stick. It's a lot to learn at first, but once you get used to it, you rock the shit out of everyone.
However, if you want a good pad for fighting games I recommend the FightPad from Madcatz http://www.pcgameshardware.de/screenshots/medium/2009/05/Street_Fighter_Fight_Pad.jpg.
There are ps3 and xbox versions. The wired versions (xbox) work on pc too. However, if you want to play other games with it you won't be happy. Since the fightpad only has a dpad you can't really play games where you need analog and dpad. You can switch between dpad, left analog, right analog on the back, means what the dpad on the pad should be interpreted as, but it doesn't really work for games that need both.
Also most games on pc that use xbox-controls don't have the option to remap the keys. And since the fightpad has an unsual key-layout most keymappings in those games can become unhandy.
But apart from the downsides, it's the best pad for fighting games you can get. It's robust, the input is accurate and it looks fancy.
