Quick question bout' monitors

Im just wondering if it matters what kind of monitor you have compared to the desktop you have.

Like if I have a pretty old monitor, but getting a newer desktop, will my monitor still be able to display the games im playing? I relize this is probably a newb question but I need to know.

Yes, but newer monitors will obviously display graphics better.

The monitor only effects the resolution you can play at.
Right now I have a 2002 Dell, but with a fancy new monitor.
No prollums.

the monitor you use can change what resolution you play at and what refresh rate also LCD displays will 10 to 1 be 75hz max but there are some that go to 120hz the HZ is the max frame refresh rate and also sets up what your vsync will be in game.
