Anyone else experiencing login problems with Steam? (the program and the community site)
Just checking to see if anyone else is getting it before I submit a ticket.

Recovery isn't working, I did user recovery and never received an email, then did email recovery and didn't receive one. But it accepted my email and said it sent my username to it. So I'm guessing it could just be a beta bug of some sort combined with login server strain or something.

Just tried the steam support password recovery and it said:
<div class="quote">Unable to Email Password
The user ID you supplied does not appear to be valid.

If you believe you may have mistyped it, use the browser Back button to return to the login page and try again.</div>

I know I didn't mistype it (exactly the same as the auto-complete one on the steam community site.), so I'm pointing in the direction of server strain.

I also went through my internet history to make sure I hadn't clicked on a spoofed steam community or steampowered site in the l4d chat room. Turned up negative.

EDIT: Oh, I tried my account name, email address and even my Steam ID name just to make sure.

Contact support. Immediately.

Assume that your account details have been compromised.

Doing a virus scan at the moment, so if there's a key logger I don't end up giving out exactly what they need to do a recovery of their own.

Writing the non-descript parts out already though.

EDIT: Incident report submitted.

I'm apparently online right now so if anyone still has me on their friends list, could you message to ask what's going on?

Could be that steam support is logged in to check something, but I haven't got a response from them yet. Does anyone know a kind of live chat I can join to ask them chats going on?

The account is pcpro32 if anyone wants to try and add me to ask what's going on I would be very thankful.

I added 'you'. I doubt he'll accept my invitation, though.

Thanks quot. The idea was more so if its a steam representative, they might. (although its still doubtful)

Just added all the proof of payment, etc. details to the incident report from a different PC which has been isolated from any the networks since last time It had a fresh install and hadn't been used for internet access yet. So once they get around to reading the incident report those details should be enough. (knowing a hardware technician with tons of PC's for the win!)

Uh oh.

Your SteamID just changed its name to [TKC] Smiley.

It's been compromised.

Yeah, already updated them with all that info and they have the info for purchase of every game on that account... they still haven't reached my ticket after almost 24 hours. :(

On top of that TKC can also refer to teamkill and cheat, a hecking group, and the kenneth clans website link is broken...

Doing some research into his user names via. google though, for possible heckling purposes of my own, should he cause my account to be VAC banned.

Yes, I am aware that it's probably my own fault in some way, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't receive punishment, possibly from his parents if I can find their contact information, and if they're not the type to dismiss everything their children do. (shouldn't be too hard, his clan mates are mostly in the UK and he doesn't seem the type to keep tabs on his online tracks from what I've seen so far)

EDIT: Going by the time of your reply, your checking my steam page almost as regularly as me. If so, thanks for caring. :)

oops, I bite'ed it.

Well The Kenneth Clan's website is back up and they have their own Vent server, Game server, etc. Just looks like a typical clan starting up for the first time. So it doesn't seem so much like just a TeamKill and Cheat spoof name now. And there seems to be a good possibility that the person using it doesn't intend to cheat with it, because there are a few people linked to that clan with more than one account, and none appear to be VAC banned. Which has greatly eased my stress levels which had shot up significantly after seeing TKC as a heckling group via a google search.

So hopefully by the time steam supports 3-5 working days have passed, perhaps a week, and this has all been sorted, the account will still be in good standing and not have had anything done on it to prompt action by VAC.

Also, all the virus, adware, etc. scanners I've run so far have turned up negative. That combined with the insecure password on the account, which I should have changed long ago when I started using randomly generated secure passwords for everything, makes it likely the account was compromised via. trying an account name/password found by hacking one of the forums or something which I used in high school. Rather than being obtained via a keylogger. (because if it was a keylogger, chances are my email would have been compromised/hijacked too, among other things)

In any case, I haven't accessed my email or anything else important from my main PC since changing many of my passwords. And I did that on a PC with a fresh windows install, which a hardware technician I know is letting me use. So if they were compromised in some way, they shouldn't be now. (plus nothing in any of them had changed prior to me changing the passwords)
