Played since age four also, coincidentally, I think my second game ever was System Shock 2, it didn't last long, scared the crap outta me and I sold it, never even got passed the first mission. First game I bought was StarCraft/Brood War, incase you're wondering.

Last game I bought was C&C3, and Supreme Commander before that. Im all for co-op games, the reason I bought two RTS' last is because theres really nothing else to get for PC, I got R6V (and before that Gears of War) for Xbox 360, and R:FoM for PS3 earlier, those (mostly Vegas) are co-op oriented. As you can tell I buy a lot of video games. But im not completely nerdy, I play sports...when I have to.

I have two PC's, well one but one mobile, im not getting this game for 360. My desktop is an Alienware ALX series, the other is a Dell XPS M1710, im not really in to customizing my own PC, theres a much better warranty if you buy it from someone else :)

Lets see the first system that I ever owned was the good old NES, but I really didn't become a serious gamer till after I bought the N64 and PSX. After playing FFVII I was totally hooked on games and couldn't get enough of them. Still today one of my top favorite series if the Resident Evil series. I don't know what it is, but any game that has to do with zombies makes me happy. That's why I'm especially excited for L4D.

The game that I have been playing a lot at the moment is actually Zombie Survival from G-Mod. I need something to quench my zombie killing thirst while I wait.

The PC I have I built from scratch and it goes like this:

AMD 64 4000+
2gb Memory
Nividia GeForce 7800 GT 256mb
2x250gb SATA HDD

im 23, ive been playing games for ever. if you played on Heat.net or Mplayer, then you know how oldschool i am. my first game on the pc was X-wing Alliance the game that made me a gamer was Doom. my favorite genre of game is online FPS, i belong to a Red Orchestra clan and i compete in the ladder with them pretty regularly, look me up on the <RTR> servers if you play that game. i also beta test for it =) woo hoo. i play most of my games on the pc but i do own a wii and cant wait for the shooter to be perfected for that system, and then zombies put in front of my wiimote... omg nice.

im a huge zombie fanatic. ive got a bunch of movie posters up on my wall,, an ass load of tshirts from resident evil the game and movie, dawn of the dead army of darkness... lots of shirts. lots of movies... even some zombie figures. if anyone knows where i could actually get a zombie let me know.. ill chain them to my wall.

ive got a

nvidia geforce 6800 gt w/ 256 ram

they arent living dead. they are cult members or in control of a parasite with hive like mentality.
id also like to point out that there are no living dead in l4d

I'm about to turn 42. I'm from the state of Ohio. I've actually played games as far back as the original Pong. I still remember my neighbors getting a home versiona and being obsessed with it. I had a 2600, 5200, 7800, intellivision, colecovision, sega, sega genesis, nintendo and super nintendo. After that I went to computers exclusively.

Right now i'm playing on a P4 2.66Ghz, x800xt, 1gig of ram, 120gig hd. I'm in the process of building a rig for DX10 gaming. I'm in no hurry to get it done as my comp plays valve games just fine at the moment.

Hey Johnny, hope you're not one of those Southern Ohioans :P

I have an AMD 3700+, 1 gig ram, X800XL that's dying, 200gig hdd. I've been happily browsing around what I'm going to be getting in the summer for Left 4 Dead.. Hopefully the R600's aren't too expensive, but I'm really looking forward to getting a new monitor.

I have a 19" CRT right now, but since playing on the Dell 30" LCD at Valve I've been craving something more. I've been looking at the Dell 30" (nice resolution but $1350 is a bit much) or the Westinghouse 37" ($1000).. mm.

R600 will probably be $500-600, but hey that will lower the price for the 8800 series. And DX10, w00t. You can play crysis with that.

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
CPU: Core 2 Extreme (Quad Core, so I better get jiggly bellies) Processor at 2.66GHz
Chipset: nForce 680i SLi
GPU: Dual GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
Serial ATA 200GB
G15 Keyboard, G5 mouse, 37" Westinghouse LCD screen.

That only took me a year and two christmas' to save up for. (Good ol' christmas money) I got PS3 the same year and the 360 before that... Yay money!

Figure I would actually sign up on the forums for a page ike this, hehe.

I'm 20, attending college off and on, have a part time job at a local big box store. First game was a Mario game for NES at age 4. Used to be an RTS (Warcraft 2, Starcraft) TBS (Lords of the Realm, Heroes of Might and Magic) kinda player untill.. Half-Life. Now, my favorite games are FPS's, if I can find a decent team to play with. With emphasis on teamplay, and the small amount of people needed to be that team, I have high hopes to blast through stuff on the highest difficulty very soon! =D

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2 gigs Ram
7600 Nvidia card
80 gig hard drive (need a new one ><)
19 inch CRT moniter
Standard Keyboard and Mouse, nothing fancy.

Cheers guys, I'll actually be posting now that I have an account, hehe. Really hyped about the game, I hope this bit of media over the past couple weeks means the game is almost done.. I can hope, right?

Hey, I'm 14 and I live overseas (foreign service child) I do not know the specs for my computer but they fall somewhere between horrible and absolutely god-awful. however, a new computer will be procured (hopefully) before the left 4 dead release. I mainly play consoles (mostly due to the afore mentioned god-awfulness of the computer) but I also enjoy PC games when I get the chance to play them, in fact, some of the first games I really got into were warcraft 2 and starcraft (despite my horrible sucking at them), and that's all I have to say, thank you for reading this muddled account of mine

Addendum: I have a slight zombie obsession beginning with the zombie survival guide, just thought that was worth mentioning

The resolution is amazing for a game like C&C when normaly on old school 12xx by 10xx (dont remember numbers) when the GUI covers the whole damn screen. I probably wont be playing L4D on that computer though, im going away for vaction (dont find my address and steal it)... I wonder if I can dl the game off of steam mid-trans-atlantic-flight...

AMD Athlon 64 3800+

04-22-2007, 03:11 PM
Hey, I'm crimtonic. I've been playing games most of my life, starting in the NES/Genesis and SNES era. I'm 17 now, and am well versed in all genres of games, except sports/racing games which I abhor.

One of my first computer games was C&C Gold, thus I have been addicted to RTSs my entire life, and my first FPS was Tribes. Ah the good ol' days.

I'm an avid and above-average skill gamer, who knows how to lead and follow in a unit. I've got a lot of experience in both, and even some that pertains to Airsoft (a sort of combat simulation sport Hotspotairsoft.com/hsastore if you want info.)

I'd say my favorite RTS of all times is with out doubt Homeworld 2, purely for its online depth and difficulty. I've been playing it on and off for almost four years, and I am still not the best. My favorite FPS would have to be Planetside which is an MMOFPS. I was, for a time, part of an outfit known as Soul Strike, one of the best in our server. We were known by both TRx and the NC's 88s as people to be feared when we attacked a base. Our outfit was highly organized and tactical which allowed us to turn the tide of 200+ person battles, with just 20 men or less. I have both commanded and followed inside of this outfit. Sadly my subscription ran out :P.

I have been looking forwards to a game like this forever, and I am excited to death about it. I have a friend who's also on board and plan to (possibly) create an elite unit of players, to combat the zombie hoards!

My computer is old but nice, and it plays CSS zombie-mods just fine, so i think it can handle this.

Well spoken, organized layout of intro, likes Tribes, Homeworld 2 and Planetside, very nice. What server for Planetside? I take it you were a Vanu player, since you mention gibbing both TR and NC.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, just curious.

crimtonic
04-22-2007, 04:01 PM
Vanu, Emerald. Good times, i just don't feel like paying the newly raised price of the online subscription or i'd still be there.

And thanks for the compliment on my introduction.

2Clueless
04-22-2007, 04:20 PM
Ah, Vanu, how I miss my daredevil days in the Thresher, about the only thing that could catch me and kill me were mines =P. Haven't played in months though. Too bad you didn't play on Markov, hehe, sound like an absolutely solid person to play with.

crimtonic
04-22-2007, 04:24 PM
Same to you, i was a damn good vehicle pilot too. I always loved the thresher, too bad our outfit did a lot of mag-colums. We're talking 10 mags on average though, hard to stop ;3. Also, i was a riflemen...Down with Heavy Assault. I remember some of my heydays on the lower ranks of my second account (i was using a reserves) when i wanted CE and all i couldn't afford any weapons but my surpressor. Damn that was funny stuff, i used to completely confound JH users when they charged at me, and i crouched down and destroyed them with the surpressors un-erring accuracy...

Still though me and you will have to team up on a L4D rampage. I'm already thinking up basic tactics and strategies with what little info we have.

Tactics... You move and you shoot? Is there any more?

2Clueless
04-22-2007, 10:03 PM
Moving, shooting, sharing medpacks, how and when to drop Motolavs and Pipebombs, how to really deal with Boombers, Tanks, Smokers, Hunters, and Witches if we piss one off, positioning, reload rounds, how long it takes to empty clips, timing, etc

crimtonic
04-23-2007, 03:22 AM
Also, weapon loadout, formation makeup, unit cohesion, unit deployment, room breaching and covering one another.

For example, i'm thinking about 'breaking' us up into two groups in one unit. Each group has two people, one with a Uzi and the other a Pump Shotgun. Each group's member covers the other (The uzi covers his/her Shotgunner, and visa versa.) From there you put both groups together in a unit.

This lets you pay attention to just one guy, rather than the other three. However don't miss interpret, all four of your stick together. You're just reasponsible for one guy, unless backup is needed for the other two.

Pixelnator
04-23-2007, 03:25 AM
The bad thing is that if the hunter and smoker attack you both simultaneously, you are gone.
Even if one of you were to struggle free, you would be too hurt to fend off the infected.

crimtonic
04-23-2007, 05:16 AM
You'll still be close to the other two, so if that happens both can back you up. But i'm more talking on the lines of room entry, and just general moving. Rather than moving as a splintered single unit, you move in pairs. That way you always have one guy next to you. Then the other pair should still be right behind you.

Essentialy i'm talking about the exact logistics of how the four work together. So rather than every one defending every one, you have two people defending eachother. And then when the situation gets rough, there's still the other pair able to protect the first two. I think it could work, but it'd require a group of rather close and practiced players. You couldn't do it with Joe and Jane who just joined the server.

I've been playing video games since I was about 4 years old, I guess. My first game was DOOM / DOOM II on the PC (long live the PC!!) and have played on and still own most of the popular consoles out there. Nintendo, SNES, N64, Playstation, PS2, Gamecube, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, various Gameboys (not the DS yet, though), and other handheld game consoles including, but not limited to the Zodiac gaming PDA.

PC is by far the best gaming system ever available and it simply can't be competed with by any modern day consoles, including Xbox 360 and PS3. The Wii is unique, so it's a different story I suppose. By the way, I hate the Xbox/360, it sucked when it first came out, and it still does, regardless of some of the good games it has, Oblivion, Dead Rising, etc. I have a grudge against Microsoft Games because of the work they did on Asheron's Call, one of the earlier MMOs that becamse popular, and used to be my favorite.

I have played MANY MMOs (very short acronym for Massively Multiplayer Onlines Role-Playing Games), probably over a dozen, most of them very popular, i.e. City of Villains/Heroes, Everquest I / II and more that just kind of died or I don't care to mention. I play tons of Zombe Mod for Counter-Strike Source, even when it sucks (some maps are crap, some are great, and some get real boring after a while).

If I fall into my video game addiciton this summer, you should see a lot of me in L4D when it comes out... as in every day, most the day, without much of a pause.

I'm 19 years old, i've been playing video games since I was a kid. I'm probably the only deaf female gamer out there, so that's something unique. It's hard to follow storylines without hearing, but I manage. I make up for it in hand-eye coordination and am really good at FPS. I love Oblivion, Baldurs Gate series, and Sims series.
