Corner Camping!!!!11

From the title, you probably expected someone to be bitching and moaning about losing to a group because they "Corner camped the whole game". Am I one of the only people that doesn't have a problem with people that sit in a corner? Maybe there are a lot of people that don't have a problem with it but it seems to me that 1/5 threads someone is complaining about it and some even go as far as to say that it is a glitch/exploit to camp in a corner or closet during a horde rush.

Let's take a quick look at the reality of it:
1. There are only a few places per map that are even viable to hold out in without being vulnerable to a good hunter/smoker/boomer/tank.
2. In between each said place is a whole lot of open space, space for hunters to get 25s, smokers to snag a stragler, tanks to flip a car on ya, boomers to surpriselolexplosion on you.
3. The longer you take, the more aggressive the AI director gets. Eventually spawning waves of common infected, and tanks if you stay in one place for a ridiculous amount of time.
4. The survivors do not have an infinite amount of ammo.

Are you honestly telling me that you can't

A. Bait them out with a hunter or smoker then boom on em.
B. Get enough coordinated attacks on the survivors when they are in the open to get them to become slow moving, low ammo ducks to be finished off by a couple hunters and a horde.
C. Just wait it out, until they fall into a false sense of security and leave their corner or get a tank spawned on their nuts.
D. Let em run out of ammo by having a couple good boomers.

If you can't do any of the above, then it is not the corner that is the problem, it's your skillz. Which you don't have enough of to pay the billz.

Sorry if this seemed more like a rant, but I honestly hope some people will open their eyes because of this and see that they are just making excuses for the fact that they need to L2P. Because, seriously, I want to rage quit life every time I read a post crying CORNERS/CLOSETSWTF. Comments, questions?

people generally only bitch when a team is tight and corner camp lol. they just won't admit it. when a team sucks corner camping is there downfall especially during the elevator crescendo of NM4.

If you were a noob, you wouldn't know how to use this. If a game allows you to do something that isn't glitching, then it is valiable. It doesn't make you noobish or anything like that. Just like those bastards on Halo 3 that told me two magnums suck against BRs and i 4-shotted them, and killed 'em! They told me it was noobish, corner-camping isn't noobish. It's noobish that people can't wait for 2 minutes or less, because people aren't going to sit in one area too long, and if it helps you win, it works.

I would like to correct your #4.

Pistols are infinite. And common infected die just fine from melee hits.

Think about it... if you're going to camp in a corner, you won't need any long range firepower... and 4-8 (usually 8) pistols can throw a lot of lead.

Anyone who thinks pistols aren't a formidible enough weapon to be kept in mind in any situation should encounter more smokers outside while wielding one of the shotguns.

You retard. People do that because they know that good teams can win even without corner camping, but they do it anyway. People don't bitch at bad teams corner camping because they know that the team will get owned anyway.

yes it is useful in vs, but it is cheap when a team does nothing but corner camp. in the off chance that I get a server of my own, a an admin, I'd probly mod the director to lower mellee speed. its meant to shove the zombies away so you shoot them.

and honmestly, learn another tactic, like using your headphnes to listen for hunters boomers and smokers? half the time i dont need visual confirmation to realise "hey the boomer is behind THAT subway car!" or the smoker will walk past that shootable wall..... now!" *blam*

Can I just point out that the video on XBOX live for L4D TIPS tells people to do this. Even shows it? That's not even including an actual demo video of the creators playing the game that shows them... *GASP* CORNER CAMPING!!!!! It's a game tactic. The same as pulling people off of buildings... something that many of you that have said corner camping is cheap... claim is fair gameplay.

Can my team win without doing this? Yeah, we do... all the time. Doing it isn't ABOUT stopping the other team from hurting us, though. It's about the ZOMBIES, not the Special Infected. In fact, we only do it when there are dozens of zombies, and we're trapped. If the makers of the game don't see it as cheap or cheating? Then none of us should either.

I agree with the OP.

The way i see it, if I was in a town infested by zombies I might hide in a closet as well.

There's plenty of ways to account for corner camping anyways, and there's not too many spots that it makes it that unfair.

However, I don't like the way survivors can clip through each other. I say Valve needs to provide model collision and make them spread out a bit.
