I was thinking of this whilest playing Gears, and thought it would be an interesting topic. 360 owners or people who know something about it only please.

Survive "whatever* level (easy difficulty, medium, hard): Achievements for you surviving each individual map, completing all parts of it from beginning until end.

Feeling queezy: Vomit on survivor as boomer # times

Death Choke: Succesfully choke a survivor # tims as Smoker.

Ripped to shreds: Succesfully pounce on survivor # times as Hunter

Tank Smash: Hit survivor # times as Tank.

Lend a hand: Help a fallen teammate # times.

Give me life: Give teammate pills or medkit.

Last man out: Be the only person left to be evacuated.

Buckshot: Kill # of infected with shotgun.

Full of led: Kill # of infected with sub-machinegun.

Big headache: Kill # of infected with rifle.

There's only one I can think of right now which I haven't already seen as an in-game merit:
Lemming: Jump off a very high ledge, crushing a survivor # times with the vertical force. As an infected.

If the 360 has something similar to achievements, but for bad things, I have a few. But I don't think it does so I wont list them.

I don't want to fight, Xero. But I also don't like being called "ignorant", if only by association. PC vs 360? PC is better suited for FPS & RTS (and certain RPGs), consoles excel (pretty much) everywhere else, from sports games and side scrollers to anything 3rd person. It's a simple fact of design! It's not gamer vs gamer, it's controller vs keyboard/mouse. That's the only point of contention. Otherwise, you're fighting a battle that doesn't exist.

Also, you might want to consider that many (if not the majority of) "ignorant PC gamers" are also diehard console gamers. Me? I'm just finishing RE4 on the Wii, and I can't wait for Mass Effect for the 360.

Now this is not a critisim of 360 players but I just don't get this achievement stuff. People would just bust a gut to be the first one to get the achievement.

It reminds me of when The Burning Crusade (that's an add on for the MMO World of Warcraft for all you Console players out there ......... sorry couldn't resist) was released. A French guy will obviously too much time on his hands, raced thru the expansion to be the first to get to lvl 70 (or was it 60?) just to have bragging rights. stayin alive= survive (#) of scenarios in online mutliplayer
slayer= kill (#) of zombie bosses in online mutliplayer matches(scenarios)
S.O.S.= ressurect a dead team mate from a dresser (or whatever it is from) (once or certain # of times)
R&R= get your whole team through a scenario and out alive (1 time? 100 times?) online or offline

I'm not certain, but the general idea of achievements seems to be: Earn achievement > get points for it > use points to buy things in 360 marketplace. (Avatars, arcade games, extra content, stuff like that.)
So it's the sense of achievement from getting 100% completion, plus free stuff which you can use outside of that particular game when you manage it.

the Achievements system is suposed to be a way to extend how long players spend on a game and to let ppl show how much they play the games they love, some ppl have turned it into a sport, and some race to get them but its a good idea. for example if someone looks at my games list they will see the games i love the games i have played once and took straight back which is great on xbox live.

and thats not the way it works, you cant buy things with your gamer points unfortunatly, you have to perchase mirosoft points to buy extra content.

before anyone goes off on a rant about MS making you pay and then buy extra, the way that works is, the publishers of content xbox live have the choice to charge or not, so if your downloading Rainbow6 maps, its ubisoft that decided to charge. much like how you pay for an internet conection and then somtime have to pay ppl to download songs or movies.

the Gamerscore pionts are the results from unlocking Achievements and you would do that for the reasons i posted above, ether your adiment to show how competitive you are, or show off your fave games.
