1: Treat all moderators with respect. Everything a moderator says is final, so do not remake a thread that has been locked by a moderator or attempt to lawyer them. Discuss problems you have with a moderator, or something he did, only via PM.
2: Use the search button before you post. If you see a duplicate thread, post the link to the thread it is duplicating.
3: Do not bump old topics without a legitimate reason.
4: Don't start or participate in a console war. Do not bash a console or people who play a console. Do not post anything that will clearly provoke someone into starting a console war.
5: Do not lie about the content of your thread or any links you post. In particular, do not post rickrolls or false information about L4D.
6: Do not discuss or advocate piracy.
7: No pornography or questionable material.
8: Do not refer to post count, registration date or member titles as a way of establishing superiority or inferiority. Do not assume the post count gives you any rights over another person.
9: Do not troll, harass or be a dick to another member.
10: Do not abuse the text size/color feature.
11: Only post pictures when they are on topic, appropriate and fit into the rest of your post.
12: No advertising, soliciting or referrals.
13: Do not reply in a thread with quotes without adding any content. Do not manipulate the quotes of another person maliciously.
14: You are not a moderator, don't backseat moderate.
15: Do not spam or abuse the report button.
16: There are no pictures allowed in your signature for a reason. Do not attempt to circumvent this rule.

The Forums

• The 'News' forum is for Left 4 Dead related news.
• The 'Main' forum is for all Left 4 Dead related discussion.
• The 'Xbox 360' forum is for discussion related directly to the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead.It is not a forum about XB360 games.
• The 'Screenshots and Videos' is for all video game videos and screenshots you post, generally related to Left 4 Dead.
• The 'Maps and Mods' forum is for the posting and discussion of Left 4 Dead (and other games) mods and maps.
• The 'Servers' forum is for the discussion of Left 4 Dead and other game's servers.
• The 'Off-Topic' forum is where everything that doesn't fit in the other forums' definition goes.
• The 'Games' forum is for the discussion of games beside Left 4 Dead.
• The 'Hardware' forum is for the discussion of computer-related hardware like hard-drives or headsets.

Posting :

• Always search before you make a new thread, search through both topic titles and messages. Only if you're sure the topic hasn't been made before should you make a new thread about it.
• Always give your thread title a descriptive and relevant name so its easier for people searching to find it! If you're posting a video, for example, have the name of the video as the thread title.
• Speak plain English and make your posts as easily understandable as possible by using paragraphs, emphasis and being succinct (to the point).
• Avoid overusing swear-words and other graphic words.
• Avoid double posting, it irritates some people. Use the edit button instead.
• Don't post just to get your post count up. Try to add something worthwhile to the thread.
• Don't post any unsolicited ads. If someone asks you what brand of a certain product you like, it's fine to tout the glories of brand X.
• Give significant warning before posting spoilers!

Conduct

• Trolling is generally considered saying or doing something to get a negative reaction. Even if it's your bona-fide opinion that Left 4 Dead sucks, if you come into a forum full of Left 4 Dead fans and say that, it's generally going to be considered trolling.
• Try to avoid personal conflicts wherever possible, exchanging opinions is fine but it should always remain civil.
• If you don't like a thread, don't post there. There are now rating buttons. HINT HINT.
• In general, go with the flow of the thread. If it's a serious thread, don't post a ton of memes and derail it. If it's a goofy thread, don't get on your high horse and say that it's too silly. If it's a thread that's about a relative dying, (which is not really a good idea for a thread), then don't start saying it's no big deal and the OP is being emo, and should get over it.
• Don't correct another member's grammar/spelling, unless it is requested such as a fanfic.
• Don't post harmful advice, such as 'Delete system32'.
• If you cannot say what you need to say in more than 5 characters, don't bother posting. Do not say 5char or any variation, seriously.
  (Seriously, instead of saying "No" why can't you say "No, he isn't" instead?)

Please don't say these words:

• Inb4 (In before), especially In before Lock: See rule #14.
• fag/faggot (used as an insult)
• fanboy (used as an insult)
• 10char/5char (Just add a word...)

Check to see if your thread belongs in one of these before you post it!

A new infraction system has been added to the forums.

The system is pretty straight forward. If a user accumulates 8 points in a 3 month period they will be banned for two days. If they manage to accumulate 10 points in a 3 month period they will be permanently banned.

Rule Violation 2
Severe Rule Violation 4
Spammed Advertisements 8

Good. I hated the old system, where it was just Warning or Ban.

I do have 2 questions.

1. What is the difference between Rule Violation and Severe Rule Violation?
2. What is inappropriate language? Since basically everyone on the forums has said or will say "Fuck" or "God Damn" or "Shit"

1. That's a bit subjective but say talking about someone not having a high enough post count to matter would be 2 points, whereas posting hardcore shit porn would be a severe violation.

2. Mostly racist language or hateful swearing towards someone (especially an admin) may get you a point for inappropriate language. In general though, its not something to worry about.

Alright, get the first point, and I guess I understand the second one, but just to be sure...

is not a violation of that, where as...

"Fuck you god damn n*gger"
is.

I don't think I got any point/referrals so I'm not too familiar with the system. But is there a way to tell how many points I have or got? Or do you send a private message to tell me I got points?

Click your name at the top right where it says "Welcome Jub8Jub" then there's a tab that says 'infractions' if you've had one, and it will tell you what you did and how many points it was worth. You would know if you got one tho, they would PM you.
