Gamestop pre-order

So, according to gamestop. when you pre-order you get to unlock some in game baseball bat. I don't understand why you need to get a code for that. Isn't the baseball bat already an announced melee weapon that everyone will get? Or is it just for people who pre-order? If it is, how could that possibly work while playing in an online match with people who don't have access to it? Or is it set up where other people have to do some achievement in order to get it? Anyone have any information about this?

More then likely, the baseball bat is just a skin for a cricket bat. Normal people can just pick it up as a cricket bat.

It's an announced melee weapon, for people who pre-ordered. If you pre-ordered the game, and redeemed your code, you and everyone in your game will be able to use the baseball bat. It's only available to people who didn't pre-order if they have someone who did pre-order in their game.
