Default run windows 7 home premium

I just ordered Windows 7 Home Premium but I wanted to make sure that I can run Left for Dead on it. I'm running it Windows and a new macbook pro with Snow Leopard if that matters

A brief interruption to introduce a forum affiliate. Put your shotguns down, it won't attack, hopefully:

. $8.95 applies to the promotional period, the lowest priced plan is $15.95 for one at a time option.

Even signing up for the trial supports Left4Dead411.

I'm gonna need your system specs. Graphics card, desktop or laptop, amount of RAM, processor speed, ect ect.

Question

2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor 512MB of GDDR3 memory

Is that good enough to run it? I assume it should be at least on low settings

But I have the Windows 7 HOME edition, which might be a problem because I can't run the XP emulator with the home edition. Or will that not matter?

Well it turns out I won't get time to do it tonight but i'm definitely getting on that early tomorrow. So someone please respond to let me know if it will work before I open the home edition and find out it's not what I need, thanks!

That's definatly good enough to run it.

Not sure on the XP thing. I'd search around the steam forums.

Yeah I thought it would prob be powerful enough to run it since they were running it fine on older macbook pros but that was with windows XP. Anyone know about the Windows 7 home edition dilemma?

Never mind I think I found the answer I was looking for:

http://www.sevenforums.com/software/...mily-pack.html

It looks like the home edition will run all the XP games out there

Every game I have ever played has ran great on windows 7, the only programs that will not run on windows 7 area 16-bit programs, which is extremely outdated stuff. Like the original Organ Trail and the Original Tales of Monkey Island. If you plan to play games from 12+ years ago, I would get XP, but if you are playing anything newer then that, get Windows 7.

Please, please refrain from triple posting. It gets irritating.

Now, on topic, your computer will run Left 4 Dead on medium/low settings just fine, as far as I can tell. Games seem to run rather well on Windows 7.

I haven't had a problem running ANYTHING on Windows 7. Vista on the other hand...

I can even run old games in compatibility mode and they work fine. Why wouldn't L4D run on Windows 7 Home but run on Ultimate or any other Windows 7 version?

Well everything is set up and running except for left 4 dead. It's installed and updated through the steam server, but when I try and launch it it says "Preparing to Launch Left 4 Dead"... and then nothing happens. The little box that said that goes away and the game never launches. Also When I open the My Games tab in steam and launch it from there it will say synching, and the same box will pop up, then the game again will never launch. I also tried downloading the Left 4 Dead 2 demo which installed but does the same thing when it comes to launching. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem and have almost the same specs on my Mac, but I actually have Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm curious if you've found a solution yet and if you would mind sharing.

Yes I did solve it, it's because Nvidia does not make a windows driver for the video card for our set up. I found a video card by "dox" or "doc" I think it was. Search around you should be able to find it and that worked like a charm. I'll post up a link but I can't really look for it right now because I have a major exam I'm studying for on Tuesday. Let me know if you find it in the interim, if not i'll post it up later this week for you.
