L4D2 Mod or file replacment for Aussie version to get full gore

what you think the chances are they will make a mod, file replacement, or custom patch to give Aussie version full gore??

Valve will probably release a patch after the game is released to uncensor it like they did with TF2 in Germany. I think it has something to do with patches not having a rating.

I saw there was a german unofficial uncut patch that specifically said "This is illegal by law use at own risk."

OT:
There is an Undead Patch, which originaly was developed to crack steam and get all games, but if you don't download and install games you don't own, you don't get VAC banned!

With this you have all steam-games uncut! Even works with l4d2-demo (for those who don't know, the demo is cut in germany lol).

I've read reports that if you make edits to two text files, you can turn both the gore on and make the uncommon infected appear:

Code:

c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\left4dead2_demo\steam_appid.txt
c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\left4dead2_demo\left4dead2\steam.inf

Those should both have 590 in the file. If it's censored, change it to 510.

The other thing Australians can do is get the game gifted to them by a non-Aus. Figure out a Paypal scheme or split a four-pack with Yanks. edit: yeah, I'm getting validation rejected, too, trying this on the US version. Probably misinformation. Sorry, folks.

I think I've said this before... but I wouldn't be surprised if Valve made it very easy to mod (or simply switch back on) the Original Uncensored Version when the full game is released.
Someone posted some files for L4D1 that made the Germany Version normal, and I think it worked very well.

actually it is.

2: launch the game from the .exe file. Not via steam.

3: when at menu in-game, open console and type, "sv_lan 1"

4: start a single player game and enjoy the gore.

Until i find a better solution we can only play with gore in single player.

also, if the solution i gave doesn't work, do the same thing but also in the file "steam.inf" found in this location "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\left4dead2_demo\left4 dead2\steam.inf" change "PRODUCTNAME=left4dead2" to "PRODUCTNAME= left4dead".

Thanks dude. umm it doesnt work online at the moment that i am aware of but go ahead and try if u like. It would be very very unlikely that you get banned.

At least for now we can taste a bit of the gore.

While not exactly a patch or definite way of getting it, this is what has worked for me. It might help others who are still considering whether to pre-order. if this doesnt work dont blame me, I'm just hoping it pays off.

OK so I pre-ordered on the website http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk changed my country in the payment page to be UK, downloaded the demo. After it went through a second update (was crashing when I tried to start a map) upon restarting steam it was uncensored. full gore everything, except I couldn't see the jets overhead (low graphics maybe?). weird thing was the product list in my account says that it's : Left4Dead 2 Demo (AU) complimentary. but still uncensored?

Hopefully it stays that way for the full version. I'll keep you updated as to whether it works or not.

This must be some kind of joke, I really don't see Valve doing this. It seems to me they would put forward the most violent version they could, and this definitely isn't it, considering the first is more violent.

i prety much did everything but cant open console and i try to play singleplayer it just says steam validation rejected

ok i just had to turn on console button but i was in game and typed in command it didnt do anything not one thing but i had to play with steam cause it just wouldnt go into the game if i went with the .exe file

i got it working u dont change it to 500 u change it to 510 then u typein the command as soon as u start up the game in the menu then full gore oh and u hav to play in the exe. not with steam

look i dont know how old this is, and i couldnt see it in the thread so here you go.
change the 590's in those two files above to 510.
then create a shortcut from the l4d2 exe to your desktop or whatever
alwayse use that shortcut to play.
theres no console crap and you should have full gore and uncommon zombies.
