Left 4 Dead 2 Announced at E3!

The first trailer for Left 4 Dead 2 has just been shown at the Microsoft Press Conference at E3. The game has been announced for the Xbox 360 and PC and will be released on November 17.

Valve's Chet Faliszek told us that when they finished production of Left 4 Dead last year many of the developers had ideas they wanted to pursue for a sequel. And since Valve employees get to choose their next project, it quickly paved the way for Left 4 Dead 2.

Here's the quick summary: Left 4 Dead 2 will feature five new campaigns, as opposed to the original's four. Each campaign will have support for four-player co-op, as well as Versus mode and Survival mode. There is one new gameplay mode that is not being revealed at this time. There are four new characters, new weapons, entirely new melee weapons, and new items. On the flip side, there are new zombies, new special zombies, and a bunch of new gameplay mechanics designed to disrupt many of the tactics and exploits that players have discovered in the first game.

I don't get it... I really don't get it. Is it actually an entire seperate game? Is it made in Source? IT HAS CHAIN SAWS? Why did they abandon Left 4 Dead? THE FUCKING SDK ISN'T EVEN FULY RELEASED YET!

I am very sad after hearing about that. Why? There's only been one DLC pack, and they're already giving up on Left 4 Dead! What about the whole "give as much dlc as possible before making a new game".

WAIT ONE GOD DAMN SECOND.
They said everything announced after that specific point was Xbox Only. That means no PC. I sense a hidden plan here.

it will be exactly 1 year after l4d and i personally can not wait, it seems like the zombies can have limbs blown off and continue attack

From the trailer, for those who haven't seen it, here are some details until they release the trailer:

Looks like its set in New Orleans from the video. Some jets fly over head, does this mean the Military is trying to fight back? Looks like at least one new boss infected, big gray dude with one arm. 4 new characters, chain saws, frying pans (yes, that means new melee weapons).

What i wanna know is, why release a sequel if they could patch this in-game. Either they want money (not very valve-ish), COULDN'T patch it in (new engine?), OR it has a completely different feel (actual story line? could be interesting...)

edit: Yes, it said comming to Xbox 360 and PC-DVD Nov 17th.

From the look of it all, it sounds like old L4D just "hey, lets add a chainsaw and charge em 50 bucks more! its brilliant!"

None of those things besides a new engine (which it doesnt look like) are unpatchable. They have just adopted a new view of life. "FUCK THE CUSTOMERS".

Hey don't forget that they announced this was only announced for Xbox 360, so far. We don't know what they will do for PC just yet. For all I know it could be just another download for PC users, or not coming to PC at all. I really don't think Valve would announce a new Left 4 Dead game when they barely added anything to the first game. Then there is the fact that it just came out for not even a full year.

No... it is announced for PC. November 7th. Although... they never did say it was a separate game... Maybe itll be just one big patch for PC users and just another way to sell the game again like with the GOTY edition and survivor patch?

No, it's definitely for PC too. They announced for both platforms at the end of the trailer.

Hmm, well, for all that l4d2 looks like is a new campaign to me. I see no reason why they cant update the old game.

And I cant wait! Useless melee/short-range weapons! Yay! more stuff to just not be used...
