Can't join server: enforcing scripts/instructor_lessons.txt

I don't think it's Valves Fault. Maybe the servers arn't updated. But if it is valves fault its understandable...Biggest launch of the year is L4D so there under pressure

HAHA! That's an update to block the unreseted servers to get players in them! It's there to block the infected play from the servers, which haven't been restarted since the last patch.

over at steam forum, they all having the same problem after the update, some managed to update the game by running ./steam -command update -game "l4d_demo" -dir .
but it will freeze your game on map change...This is valve's fault.

Well, after some updates of Left 4 Dead, the game got "heavy" here ... I was playing happy with 1280x1012 at the first updates, now I play with 1012x768 at high graphics ( excluding Anti-Aliasing and VSync )

ive gotten that shit 3 times now... i either get that one or the "lan servers are restricted to class C". i really hope to god this isnt how the matchmaking system is going to work, because its infuriating... id really hate to just not buy the game due to all the bugs, but if you cant play the game that you buy the way its meant to be played, why buy it?

i solved it by updating the game files of the server....
./steam -command update -game l4d_demo
but now im getting new msgs....

I go to console type connect myip
it goes to a lobby and immeadetly starts the game with only one person (me) and i get a message "you may only connect to this server from a lobby" wtf?
and i have
sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0
sv_unreserve
on the server conf

I have had a dedicated server running since the advanced demo release with NO problems having other people connect to my machine at home... until patch #3.

Now, upon a direct connect, the MatchMaking service resolves my internal IP instead of my public IP. I tried changing the 'IP' on the server to match my public, but then it wouldn't allow the player out of the lobby.

They should roll back to patch #2 until they can resolve this. If not, I'm going to be asking for a refund.

also... they removed the CVAR "sv_allow_lobby_connect_only" I had to comment it out on my server.cfg to get rid of the error.

This may be the primary culprit.

My private server finally let me start connecting again, this problem no longer exists. I had restarted it about 10 times so I'm guessing there was a mini-patch in there somewhere, otherwise magic.

Though I have no idea why this would happen... its seems that they reversed the sv_lan cvar so it must now be set to 1 in order to join through console... why i have no idea.

I recommend adding the line sv_lan 1 to your server.cfg file, and make sure your either take the +ip portion out of your startup or change it to `localhost`

I had the same problem on my rented server. I tried restarting it and everything. So eventually i reinstalled the server and configured it how i wanted it again and it worked. Didn't get that error anymore. I think its something server side.
