PC Zone Left 4 Dead Article - 4/27/07
The UK gaming magazine PC Zone had an article about Left 4 Dead in their latest issue and have posted it on their website. They had the chance to play as the infected bosses so they have some new information on that aspect of the game.
"As a Boomer you hide around corners before leaping into the middle of the survivors and belching your juices on them. As a Hunter you wait until you hear somebody reporting the fact that they're reloading before pouncing on them and eating their head. As a Smoker you lock on to humans before launching your tongue at them, and as the Hulk you chuck cars and debris about like lego. It's simple, brutal, and in essence quite easy."
I just have a few comments to add to this: Boomers don't LEAP, they can barely run! What they might have been trying to communicate is that you could possibly jump down from a building (no falling damage for infected) and puke from there. When they're referring to the Hulk they actually mean the Tank. The part where I take offense is the last sentence of that paragraph. I am hoping that they meant it is easy in the way that it is designed and easy to know what you can do. To say that playing the infected side effectively at all is EASY is a completely false statement. The infected side has a MUCH steeper learning curve than the Survivor side, so unless these UK guys are some sort of prodigies I'm not sure what they were saying at all. Another thing they said was that Survivor see each other with a yellow aura, which has been green both in our playtest and in the recently released 1UP video (you can see it right before the person explodes the Boomer in close-quarters). That might be a new change, we'll have to see. All that aside, go read it.
It might only be part of the actual magazine article because Teknobry from the forums told us that it explained the Witch in more detail.
