Gameplay videos from IGN - 8/4/07
The QuakeCon barrage continues! IGN has posted 4 different minute-long videos of Left 4 Dead in action and also a two page hands-on preview. The videos contain the best audio we've heard from the game so far (although without music), including lots of voice communication and zombies.
1st video: Near the top of the hospital. Boomer explodes at the beginning, gets jumped by a Hunter, then near :30 he gets overwhelmed by zombies from behind. He then gets up and is on his 'third strike' - screen turns black and white, can hear his heart pumping.
2nd: On top of the hospital roof, before they start the finale. More great audio, zombie noises and more bandaging action.
3rd: During a finale (you can see the bar at the top with time remaining). At :03 there's a close-up of a zombie getting his head blasted off. Smoker smoke deployed and you can hear coughing when the player gets near it. Can see lightning in the distance, barbed wire along the edges looks a little iffy..
4th: More finale. Tank on fire, looks awesome. The Tank hrows debris right before he dies. Can see what it looks like to climb on ladders (can see arms). At :56 you can see the voice command wheel with different commands.
Thanks to a duck on the forums for pointing these out! The hands-on preview talks about the feel of the game, the IGN guys sound pretty excited:
"In short, it's a zombie-lover's wet dream, as it contains all the "Oh ****" moments of a good horror game, is constantly throwing creepy scenarios at you - we recall standing with our three partners in front of a manhole saying "Ok, who's going to jump down first?" - and it brings an awesomely risky form of friendly fire cooperative play to the horror genre."
