Left 4 Dead in Early 2008 - 8/3/07

Another article out of QuakeCon, Gaming Today posted a Q&A with Mr. Awesome himself, Chet Faliszek. Find it here. Most notable, on when Left 4 Dead is to be released:

"The game will be available at retail and on Steam some time after the holidays."

And confirmed by an e-mail from Mike Booth to forum member Conde where he said:

"We meant Left 4 Dead will ship after the Christmas holidays, sometime in 2008."

2008 it is. How will they launch it? Eurogamer just put up a news article about the new release window and they had this to say:

"We suggested that perhaps a free launch weekend would be a good trick to pull. "All that's been talked about and bandied about, and I can't say if we're going to do one thing or the other yet. But definitely Steam allows us to do things on the PC side that no other developer can do, and we definitely don't ignore that," Faliszek said."
