GFW Radio L4D Preview - 10/26/07
GFW Radio's latest podcast discusses Left 4 Dead, revealing some of the first concrete information about one of the other campaigns! The L4D content starts at 81:15 and goes till about 93:20. The previewer said he was "extremely confident" in how good of a game Left 4 Dead will turn out to be, explaining that it's just one of those games that you play and you know it's great.
The previewer talks about the Cornfield campaign, which sounds like a great change of pace from the Hospital mission that we're so familiar with. The Cornfield level starts you in the middle of the woods at night and ends up at a farmhouse with a zombie-filled cornfield and barn. According to the podcast, the finale takes place in the farmhouse, and the vehicle to take you away is a truck armed with machine guns. It sounded great, can't wait to see some screenshots!
The podcasters were all very enthusiastic about the game, although they did discuss one aspect they were worried about. Turtle Rock said during QuakeCon that infected boss spawning was one of the things they were working on. At the time of his playing, the 'spawn timer' was still in the game where once you die, you have to wait anywhere from a couple to 20 seconds. The previewer was concerned about this because 20 seconds watching other people have fun in such a fast-paced game didn't seem to be a good thing.
Thanks to mookieflukie from the forums for this great find. We hope to see more information and media about the Cornfield scenario, you'll know when we do!
