L4D Accolades, Stats, Machinima - 12/19/08

shows that Left 4 Dead for the Xbox 360 was the top rental last week out of all Xbox 360 games. You people should be buying it!

On GameSpy's Best of 2008, Left 4 Dead was the #4 Xbox 360 Game, #3 PC Game, and #1 Multiplayer Game of the year! On IGN's Best of PC 2008 Awards, Left 4 Dead had the Best Use of Sound, was the Best Shooting Game and the Best Multiplayer Game. Congratulations Valve.

acm2000 on NeoGAF reported that Edge Magazine gave Left 4 Dead their Best Online Experience and it placed 3rd for Best Innovation.

L4DStats
Gareth Llewellyn has created a Left 4 Dead stats parser that you can find at http://www.l4dstats.co.uk/. Version 0.3 was released at midnight last night, and if you own a server it looks like a pretty cool thing. From the website:

In short it allows a Dedicated Server owner to process the log files generated from their server and display them on a website for whatever reason they may have.

L4DStats includes a PHP processor that can be run from a browser or as a cronjob. If you prefer to use binaries instead of php scripts there are two .NET applications available (a GUI and a Console) for use on Windows or Linux with the use of Mono.

A Clan or Dedicated Server owner could install a single instance of the LAMP setup and then deploy an unlimited number of the parsers to their other servers (each remote server having its own Unique ID) and centralise all logs in one place!

The Stats website itself features Top Players, Top Weapons, Highest Scoring Game, Player Matrix’s, Graphs, and more.
