Former "Left 4 Dead" Studio Strikes Back - 3/18/10
Did you know that before Valve acquired “Left 4 Dead” and continued its project, Turtle Rock Studios were the guys that first started the concept? Turtle Rock Studios was also responsible for its work on Counter-Strike mods and Left 4 Dead project, which was started back in 2005, but was never finished, until Valve completed the project during its acquisition. In addition, a majority of Turtle Rock Studios’ staff have also joined Valve. Turtle Rock’s CEO Michael Booth is currently in the works of rebuilding his team of developers.
No word on any new projects that they will be overseeing this time, but with works like Counter Strike and Left 4 Dead, we can only expect the very best. Griffin McElroy of joystiq.com wrote, “Though we’re as yet unsure what projects Turtle Rock is planning, we wish the team the best of luck. Not just because we’ve loved its games so far, but because we feel an immediate fondness for game developers named after dungeons from “A Link to the Past.”
